I'm no vet, I just got out a week ago, but some very wise individuals suggested a few things that I hadn't thought of that I was very thankful to have.

Earplugs: in case you have a semi-private room and a loud roomie

Fan: I didn't even consider this one and I was very glad to have some air flowing in the room

Chapstick: your lips will be dry and this is key!

Those were my top things along with very comfy clothes and chargers for various electronic toys if they're your thing.

Best of luck!

It's been a while so I don't remember everything I packed.  I do know it was very bare minimum.

Baby wipes for sure! I used a lot of them.

Iip balm maybe a small hand lotion

One pair of easy on off shoes or slippers

One set of clothes on arrival and one comfy set for the way home. That's it. I stayed in my hospital gown the entire time. No underwear either. (It's too difficult to bend to change them or pull down when using the toilet)

ear plugs or something to listen to music

maybe a pillow if you sleep better with your own

Lysol wipes (if sharing a toilet)

The less the better!

I was thinking of the Lysol wipes. I had MRSA a year ago, so this entire hospital stay is kinda scaring me.

I dont know what the nurse will say about it wednesday when I see her. My sister who is a lab tech in another province says its protocol for them to have patients with MRSA history in a single room. No clue if that is HRRH protocol.

I am scared I will get reinfected with my surgrey wounds. I have horrible scars from last infection

It should be protocol.

whatever fights boredom for you, magazines, book, smart phone.  if you have sleep apnea your machine needs to come with you.  I took a sleep mask to block the light (its always too bright in the hospital for me).

I brought a couple of my own nightgowns, and a pair of capri pj pants. I brought under ware but as said previous..far to much work. I had chap stick and hand cream in my purse....regular toiletries. I wore flip flops in and wore them around the halls. I also wore the same clothing in as I wore out.

I could have used earplugs, I was not only in the room that was directly under the main call bell in the hallway BUT I had the most obnoxious roommate.... and another patient on the same floor screamed HELP ME PLEASE GOD HELP ME!!! constantly :(

I had a hard time getting towels from the nurses..but I brought my own because I had a funny feeling my stay would be miserable. My own pillows. I brought my lap top with some shows to watch and a book of puzzles..but I didn't really use it..I slept and walked...one more thing feminine products(if you need them), surgery sparked a period 2 weeks early for me ~*BOO*~

Good Luck on your journey!

As I haul my huge bag home after a week in Toronto, I'm going to say "bring less". You have so much to learn and do in the hospital, and you'll be rather tired, so you won't get bored. I never cracked a book open and it took me a week to finish knitting half a sock (so slow for me). Force yourself to rest.

Wear the same clothes you came in. Make sure they are loose.

Lip balm, ear plugs, slippers. I wore my Minnie Mouse crocs in and wore them as slippers as well.

reading material, chargers, phone.

eye mask is a good idea.

def bring feminine hygiene products.

hair brush and elastics.
