Exercise post op
I started real exercise one month out. They told me I could pre-op. I did a sprint triathlon 3 months out LOL. (too soon, just an FYI - as you can't get enough water in for two hours of extreme exertion). All things cardio you can do, and maybe wait until Aug. 13 to get the green light for weights and core.
Surgery March 23/2011. Completed three full marathons and two half marathons, two half Ironman distances. Completed my first Full Ironman distance (4 km swim, 180 km bike, 42.2 km (full marathon) run) in Muskoka August 30/2015. Next Ironman Lake Placid July 23/2017!
I was told I could go swimming after 2 weeks. Just make sure my incisions were closed and healed, which they are. I'm starting today! Today, I am 2 weeks post op. Yippee!

How do you feel? If your incisions are all healed, talk to your doctor and let them clear you to go. It's a major surgery you've just had and while you probably feel pretty good from all the weight you've lost so far, you must remember that it simply takes time for all the stuff inside to heal as well.
That being said, there are plenty of exercises you can do that doesn't put any strain on your core. When I started at my gym I hired a personal trainer who knew just what exercises I could do without hurting myself, listened to my feedback and adjusted my workouts accordingly. That made a huge difference for me as I eased into the more difficult stuff when I was ready.
Long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be.
