When will I be able to eat my favorite snack after surgery?

My favorite snack is  Red delicious Apple, cut into slices, thin layer of smooth almond butter topped with sprinkle of cinnamon.

I adore this snack and I have it every day.  I know I will miss it and healthy items.

I just wanna know when you think I would be able to handle it... I guess based on your own experiences.

Once you are on solids you should be able to handle it. I can only eat 1/2 an apple and have to really chew it. I would probably wait a few months and not have this as an early out snack

Oh, my - that sounds yummy... I am thinking I am going to have to incorporate this into my meals!!

I was able to eat apples at about 4 or 5 weeks out... first try with taking the skin off and chew, chew chew.

Honestly, you will only be able to eat one or two slices in the beginning... they will turn brown before you get the to rest.  So if you need someone to help you enjoy it, let me know! :)

hahahah.. Sure Lori lee you can share my apple.

It is yummy, The apple is sweet, the almond butter is amazing and good protein and the cinnamon helps keep your blood sugar in check.  I find eating the whole apple around 8am keeps me full and satisfied until 10;30ish.

Let me know how you like it..

glad you share my fav w ya :)

and happy to know it wont be FOREVER before I can have it again, even if it is in small doses

This is so funny because DH and I have been sharing so much food lately. I can't "finish" anything so he takes over when I'm done. Rather cute. The dog is also looking well-fed... Hmm.

Apples have been an issue for me, with digesting them

I have a piece of fruit every afternoon, and so I had planned my afternoon snack as "apple with cheddar" for a week or so when I went back to work.

But no.

Apple won't stay down. I have found that strangely enough, a pear will stay down there. Peeled and sliced of course. But apple just won't.

Dunno why.

Don't go by my experience necessarily though - I seem to have a somewhat more sensitive pouch han other peoples'

I eat apples often, but not until about 3 months out.

The skin may be a challenge, but your "treat" sounds pretty healthy. Mention it to your dietician. I eat banana and peanut butter every day!

My centre has apples (without skin) listed as soft fruit 2 - 3 weeks out. So I tried. Of course only a few slices at a time. I added my nut butter to 1/4 cup of greek yoghurt and dipped the apples in the mixture. Yummy.
