Got orientation date in Ottawa
My orientation was last week and they do not weigh and measure anymore, only at your first visit with the nurse. At orientation they will explain the 3 programs they have at the hospital. The lifestyle diet, the optifast diet and the surgery. It took only an hour for her presentation and in it will be a 30 sec. animated video of the procedure for RNY. I knew everything she talked about because of this forum. It's a wonderful place to get information. After orientation, you will get either a phone call or some papers by mail for your next appointment with the nurse. Before that you will have to get some blood work done (she will tell you what you need and you have to get it done at the hospital) Hope this helped.
Did you get the blood taken right after the orientation? Or is that a separate visit? Your reply was very helpful indeed - thank you very much!

No, not after orientation because they will call or give you a letter asking what kind of blood work you need before your visit with the nurse. Also since you will be doing blood work, you need to be fasting (I don't know if that's the correct word since I'm French) They said you could go the morning of your nurse appointment since the results are put in the computer and are transferred right away. But If you appointment is early in the morning I would go before that just to make sure
Good luck!
Congrats! I am sure you're really looking forward to it.
I am going through Ottawa as well. It started with presenting my papers/self-evaluation to a nurse, getting weighed and my height was taken, and then we proceeded to a big room down the hallway where we all (about 50 people) watched a film/slideshow about the various types of methods available, followed by a group general discussion with the nurse who explained the literature that they gave to us. Then you're sent on home and told that they will contact you for the next steps. Hubby and I went; we were there for a couple of hours, tops.
Good luck in taking this step; you're on your way!
