Starting Opti

Tomorrow I start my Opti-Fast regime for 3 weeks ... I won't lie ... I'm anxious as all get out about it ... I'm so worried I'm going to cave-in! But I just keep telling myself that I have not come all this way to blow it in the last 3 weeks! The one great thing I've got going for me is a group of supportive friends and family who will talk me off 'the ledge'.  The mind plays some serious games on us when it comes to food. I'm glad for this forum because I've read many of your posts on how to overcome the 'hunger games' ... wish me luck!

I wish you lots of good luck and you're right ... you haven't come this far just to blow it in the last 3 weeks. Take it one day at a time and you'll do great!!  Keep your goals in mind.

Good luck, you can do it. I'm almost finished my 3 weeks. My surgery is next Wednesday.  I found that it really helped if I drank my shakes 4 hours apart and as soon as I thought I was hungry I had some water or celery. This has helped me to figure out what is head hunger versus real hunger.

I'm in the middle of Opti.  There is no question it is challenging at first....but once you get into a routine you will be fine. Organization is key.   I also found that taking the shakes 4 hrs apart really helped. All will be well.  Drink lots of water too. I am taking Metamucil caps with each shake and which the clinic recommends - and I've had no probs with opti trots.    Take care.

I was really worried about giving into cravings too. I managed to get threw it and with no real hunger. I made sure to have a shake every 4 hours and my 2 cups of veg around dinner time.  You got this!

So far so good on Opt ... day 3 haven't given into any cravings, however I think I've died and gone to heaven when I have my calcium & vitamin D chew and I find I have to spice up the unsalted chicken broth with paprika or lemon citrus pepper! Thanks for all the support and hints!

im at the end of day two on Opti.  I find I'm really, really tired, but not that hungry.  Two weeks seems like an eternity.  Sugar free jello isn't on my list, but do you think it would be okay?

At TWH they say sugar free jello and Popsicle are ok, hang in there Alligator! Day 2 is hard and maybe even day 3 but once you get past that you'll be fine! I am on day 5 and am not really hungry ... I think I miss the taste of food but I have to say I'm not hungry.  One thing that I do with the Opt (my last for the night) is I don't put as much water and make it like a pudding and somehow I feel it's just a little more substantial then a drink.  I also make sure I have my broth and lots of water. You can do this!
