That salmon sounds good.
Obviously that other baby isn't as brilliant as the little Nugget.

Thanks CC!! I really need to find a fish that I like... I know it's so good for you but I can't get past the fishy-ness (both the flavour and the animal aspect). I really have to disassociate the animals from the food...
I missed posting this morning because the little nugget had a playdate. It was super cute... Every time she "talked" the other baby started crying.
QOTD: despite me not liking the salmon I know it actually turned out well. It was a spicy rub -- paprika, cayenne, chili powder, basil, parsley, garlic, lemon, butter, salt, and pepper. Pat the salmon dry with a paper towel, sprinkle with salt and pepper, rub on the paste, top with sliced lemon, bake for 10-15 at 400.
Post-op three years and eleven months (appointment March 4th).

I did not have any side effects at all.
My doctor had a good trick, she recommended that I take this at night before bed so I would sleep through the side effects in the initial stages. It worked for me! I think the most common side effects are headache and nausea...I felt no nausea and had a dull headache for the first 2-3 days. Eventually I started to use it in the morning instead, because I felt my hunger creeping back in in the evenings...so delaying the dose addressed that.
I actually think Saxenda really just made me understand the benefits of the surgery. I was very much on the fence before. Seeing what a difference the GLP made to my hunger was eye opening. Surgery has made my hunger go to zero.
I do want to say that it does not help you with cravings. So you may not feel hungry, but I found I still had to deal with my mental hunger/cravings. But I am fortunate to have access to a therapist and some self help books that help me deal with these.

Thank you for your input.. Did you find you had any side effects from it being on it that long? I am hoping to lose enough weight that I may not need surgery but if I dont I'll go the surgery route.
I used Saxenda for 18 months. I lost about 8% of my weight and it stayed off. The most tangible benefit was that it really helped manage my hunger. My appetite was significantly reduced.
The only reason I am not on it now is because I actually had a lot more to lose and decided to pursue the surgical program. I used Saxenda until I started Optifast.

Seriously do not cheat. You're only adding risk to your surgery and it's just not worth it. This is step 1 of a long process, which will require discipline and a lot of changes in mentality and behaviours. I know 3 weeks seems long, but it will pass. The first few days are hard, but then I find most people are in cruise control.
Optifast for me was the hardest of the stages. I used my time on Optifast to really strengthen my resolve against cravings and prove to myself I can do this. I broke the recovery process down into levels in my mind - for example, level 1 - opti, level 2 - clear liquid, level 3 - liquid, level 4 - puree and level 5 - soft diet. I showed myself each level gets easier and easier, and that has in fact been true.
All the best for you on this process! You can do this.

Thank you for the tips. I'm amazed how such small amounts fill me right up! So exciting.
I actually like oatmeal and was looking forward to it after weeks of liquid diet, but I couldn't have it either was way to heavy sat like a lump. It's hard to believe in the early days that you can survive on so little, but don't worry, concentrate on getting in your fluids/water as dehydration is your enemy, the rest will come in time.

Thank You! I thought the same when I saw oatmeal on one of the menu choices. Never liked oatmeal anyways but was trying not to stray away from the choices given. Not doing that again.
