One banana has about 14g of sugar. One vanilla activia yogurt has about 17g of sugar. I would dump over about 10g and with it being in a drink it would hit even faster. A substitution for you might be a 1/4 banana with 3/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt with some unsweetened vanilla and Splenda. You would end up with about 6g of sugar total and a lot more protein.
Hi. I am a new Canadian resident. I want to get the gastric bypass surgery. I'm interested in knowing how I can do this, if it's covered by OHIP and what do I do if I don't like my family doctor. Can I change?
Thank you. And I hope it goes by fairly fast - this liquid diet before surgery is hard.

This is true from what I heard as well. Not only do they have quotas to fill per centre, each surgeon has a certain amount that they can/should do. So if surgeon x has met his quota by such and such time then patients that are under his care will have to wait for the following year unless there are cancellations. This is based on the Ontario funding by OHIP and so one surgeon isn't "preferred" over the other.
To be a centre of excellence they have to do 120 bariatric surgeries a year.
Thry also have a maximum that they can do per year because of their budget.
This is nothing new and usually is why in February/March some centres start to have a slow down as they reach their fiscal year. It restarts in April.

I have yet to eat a whole banana. The most I've had is 1/2.
Yeah, that smoothie had a minimum of 24 grams of sugar. That's probably the issue.

I went through in Guelph last year and they have a psychiatrist there that you will have to see if you have a history of mental illness. I do, and was denied the surgery last year (for valid reasons). I can try again this year after I've made some progress. I would just be very open with them. I can see now that I wasn't ready last year and will be this time.

When I had my one year check up, I asked the dietitian if the number of RNYs were going up, down, or status quo. She said it was about the same because the program actually had a quota/ goal of RNYs that they had to meet/hit each year for each center of excellence. I was really conflicted about hearing this. Unfortunately I didn't probe further... but I was thinking... so are you just pumping out RNYs like a puppy mill? On the other hand, I thought it's a good chance for people to make it through the process. What are your thoughts on this? It was at Humber River Regional Hospital.

So for breakfast today, I was going to be healthy because I wanted the bananas, yogurt, and spinach.
Ingredients:
-one full banana
-5 leaves of fresh spinach
-vanilla Activia Yogurt
This was very filling. It took a long time to finish, but it was very tasty. About 5 minutes after I ate, I felt cramps and I immediately took that big dump poop. I could hear the water dumping from my intestines into my bowel. My mouth was producing a lot of saliva, too. So, yeah. There was probably a lot of sugar in my smoothie. Who else has dumped on fruit? Which fruit? So weird- dumping on a healthy food.
