Thanks for the reminder, Karen. I am so bad at getting the water in. I use to love water and drank so much of it and now that I have to drink it I don't want it. Isn't that human nature? I am sitting here drinking a large hazelnut iced coffee from McDonald's but I can't find room for water hmmmmm........what is wrong with this picture. Goes to show you it is all in my own sick little mind. Got to change my mindset here.

BEFORE SURGERY... In my other life, I drank a lot of plain water. Now I can't tolerate plain water and the "other" waters ei. crystal light & flavored waters are too sweet. I found one at GNC for $2.99 but that costs a too much even if I dilute it. Yeah, I have difficulty getting my water in. I dehydrate easily and need to watch this. PLUS... I don't seem to remember my vitamins and meds ! ! ! "Bad Girl, Bad Girl".... AND THEN: for some reason I've lost my sense of taste... nothing tastes good. Wahhhh it's BBQ and Picnic season.... What's up with this.... GAD..... MILLIE

I add a capful of my favorite DaVinci SF syrup flavor (caramel or Khalua) to my water and ice and yum...not too sweet because I control the amount but a little flavor. Hope that helps...BTW I get my syrup at Sam's Club

It is His love and grace that saved and sustains me.

Oh Karen,

I know what you mean about the water.  I spent overnight in the hospital because of dehydration.  Stupid me, didn't drink all the water that I was supposed to drink and was watching television and felt a little sick at my stomach so I got up, went to the bathroom, and when I woke up, Kenny was shaking me.  I don't know how long I was out since I couldn't remember going to the bathroom.  Kenny found me there when he got off work at 11 pm.  They liked to never got an iv since I was so dehydrated and were about to put one in my neck when the nurse said, got it.  Every morning, I set out six bottles of water and put times on them so I know when I have to have one finished.  The doctor that took care of me told me that I was lucky to be alive.  Now if I could only remember to get my protein in.

glad you are ok now. and that is a good way to do the water, I fill mine up and keep in ref and then when i finish one i set it on the cabinet and a couple times a day i look to see hom many i have done, if not enough i step it up a notch.  you can do your protein the same way...I have one every morning and then i have a big cut with a lid on it and i mix that ful which is two more protein drinks for the day, since i have it mixed it seems to get done better than if i have to stop and shake one up ? tell me what is the difference lol  for us the protein is just as important , dont want your body eating itself do you? it starts on internal organs first.  lovely picture isnt it?  glad to hear from you but sorry you have been in the hospital. take care . thanks Jan.

I know I need to do the protein and I try, I really do, but it mostly comes back up.  Tonight, I am trying an egg with cheese and it's the first protein that I've had all day.  I did, though, get my water in and after the egg and cheese, later, I'll force a protein drink down and hope it stays down. I am so bad about protein.  I love vegetables and can eat my weight in green and red and yellow ones.  I am ten pounds below the weight my surgeon set for me but that was high so I'm not worried but am going to get my sixty of protein in or bust. LOL.  I really try.  But an egg and a slice of cheese is good and if I drink a drink with peanut butter in it too, then it's all good.  Tomorrow, I'll eat chicken and do a drink.

Aloha Jan......That's a great idea! I've been filling up a big plastic pitcher with filtered water in the morning and trying to make sure it's gone by the end of the day if I'm at home, or taking a water bottle with me and refilling that a couple of times if I'm on the run. We have to find little tricks, don't we, to make sure we don't forget this important element.

Protein is tricky, too. I'm always taking protein bars, little bags of nuts, and now soy crisps with me when I'm out and about. Love those barbeque soy crisps!!

Aloha Jeannie...Wow...you are an example of what I was talking about.....the ER nightmare!! I am so sorry that that happened to you. There were a couple of women in my support groups who had ended up in the ER and it was dehydration but I never really thought much about it. Now, I'm getting serious about the water issue.

It sounds like you have done fabulously good on your program. Another success story.

Thanks for sharing.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen
