No, they were all on the bed sleeping and did not move a muscle (not even Diva, who was still with me at the time). Lazy cats!

Good morning gang,
I'm at work and keeping busy today, I work at a hospital.
Our team is going to serve lunch to the homeless today and after work I'm sitting with a man who is dying here at the hospital. We have a volunteer program here called No One Dies Alone. A lot of staff volunteer to do this and it's a great program.

Going to Mackinac this Friday, my step-daughter is getting married on the St. Ignace side by the bridge at the park. Then my hubby and I will have the whole weekend to walk and enjoy the scenery. His brother has a house with cabins on Lake Huron side, you can see the bridge and Mackinac Island at this house. It's like paradise there. We sit by the fire and watch the ships go by. I'm totally relaxing as I type this!!!!

Since I am not a sports person, I don't really know who these people or the teams are, but I'm glad it made you happy.  Yesterday, I went to the doctor and weighed in and was stable and, as the doctor said, holding my own.  So, for five more months I need to hold my own and then I can get this awful skin removed.  He didn't have any complaints about my blood work, but did tell me to increase the multivit with iron for a month and come back for another iron level and something else.

I did my walking at the mall because my friend, who is trying to lose weight, cannot walk on hilly terrain, so we do the mall.  Plus, after she gets her walk in, she can sit and drink a diet coke while I get the rest of my walking done.  She can only walk about ten or fifteen minutes.  She has maintained the walking and eating a high protein diet, so I'm hoping she will see a big difference soon.

I met with my gays last night and we had a wonderful time talking about mythology.  They are Druids and they use my Latin skills to write their spells.  Actually, they write them and I translate them into Latin.  After their meeting, we went out for coffee.  They are planning a camping trip around Hot Springs, and then they are going to the crystal mines and have a section dug out for them and they are loading up on crystals.  I go to the same one they go to, but I never pay for a dig; I just pick them up off the ground.  This year, I'm going in on the dig with them.  I may even camp with them.  Well, they are camping near a lodge and I'm thinking I'll stay at the lodge. LOL

Today, I'm spending the day reading and writing.  I have a chapter in an academic book that has been approved for publications and I need to do add one more section for the editor of the book and then I am academically published.  Yeah!  At this point, it is all about padding my CV so that I will look good to the prospective universities that I apply to.

You are such a great friend to have in a walking companion!! This person you are
helping should be very greatful that you are trying to help her & not hurt her. 10-15
minutes is a great way to get her started. She will thank you later as she gets more energy & starts to lose some of that weight. You stated in the past how large she is,sogetting her out to do any exercise is a good step in the right direction. It is never
too late to exercise.

Top of the morning to you, George and my other OFF siblings. I hope that Tuesday is great for each one of you.

It is suppose to be warm here for about the next week so that is great. I have been waiting for this. I was under the impression that it was suppose to be in the 80's most of the time but according to the weather it is getting into the high 70's...but what the heck...I will take it gratefully! And another good thing.......not so much rain! How great is that???? Here it is 20 to 9 and it is already 59* so that is a step in the right direction.

Nothing much happening here today. I am planning on staying home and just doing some stuff around here. I have some paperwork to catch up on for the church and so I should do that. Once I get all that done I will be able to rest for a short amount of time at least.....or at least until the next thing comes up that someone needs done and I am just the person to do it. That happens around here a lot!

Misty is long gone so heaven only knows where she is at.....probably on the bed sleeping away. Yesterday all she did is sleep and then when I would walk around she would give me dirty looks. I apologized to her and then she would yawn and lay her head down again. The last couple of days she hasn't come into the bedroom when my eyes open in the morning. I do know that she needs a hair cut and so I think that she is getting a personality change because her hair is long....I do the same thing. When my hair gets to long I have a personality change too. With this she must take after her mom. ha ha

I guess I will get going. I am boring myself since nothing is happening around here. That is sad when your life bores you too! I am sending everyone love and hugs and prayers are being said too. Have a wonderful day and remember to smile.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

I am not a True Baseball fan, but, I do know who Nolan Ryan is, as my Nephew was named after him & he is in his 20's now. So that tells you something. That is great George!! NOlan is a classic guy & always has been.

Good morning George and everyone.....

George...Nolan Ryan....wooohooo...you must have really enjoyed that!!

Not much happening here. Went out for my three mile walk this morning as usual. It sure was a beautiful morning!

Yesterday my doctor said she doesn't want me jogging anymore. This is because of my hip and knee pain. She is afraid I will make it much worse so I guess it is walking from now on. I don't want to end up having surgery so I will follow her directions. She also said three days a week is enough....I will not change that....I like being out in the mornings and will continue doing the five days.

I best get back to work. have a great day everyone!!

Special prayers to those in need.

Love and hugs to all.....connie d

Connie, Fast walking is just as good for you. Even better on the joints, just takes a bit longer. Really good shoes, Connie! I can tell even when the shoes still look "Good" if my shins or arches start hurting it is time to replace them. I try different ones but keep going back to the Saucony brand. Roomy for the toes, good arch support, lots of cushioning. I usually get them on sale at Big Five for about $40.00 or less. Usually need to replace them about every 5 or 6 months.

Hi Karen...I too believe in high quality tennis shoes. I change mine about every 6 months...they say 3 but that seems a little soon for the walking I do.

Have a wonderful day....thanks for the support.

Love and hugs....connie d

So, George, you're hobnobbing with Nolan Ryan!
What an exciting thing to happen!

Ophidiophobia.  Fear of snakes is ophidiophobia and I have it bad.  I can't so much as look at a picture of one.  I've never been in the reptile exhibit at the zoo, never went on a kids' field trip that involved the "s" things, and plug my ears and cover my eyes when any show up on TV, including the old Johnny Weismuller Tarzan movies.

I only "met" one in person and that was in an old, unattended, overgrown and freshly plowed asylum cemetery while looking for a grave pin.  I had the most uneasy feeling walking in this cemetery and about 1/4 mile in, there it slithered, 2" from my foot.  I screamed bloody murder and ran to my husband and would have crawled up on his back if I hadn't been so heavy.

Full blown panic attack, one of the worst I've ever had.  Then it dawned on me that I had to walk the 1/4 mile back to the car!  It was the most terrifying time of my life.

My husband said he'd go get the car and drive into the cemetery (nothing but an overgrown field, no stones) but I wouldn't be left alone in the field with "those things."  So we walked back to the car, me behind him and in his footsteps before he hardly got out of them, while clutching, no, digging, my nails into his arms.

And then I didn't want to get in the car because I thought one might have gotten in.  I kept my feet up on the seat during the drive home, there was no way they I'd put them on the floor, just in case.

I had nightmares for 3 straight nights after, and then occasionally.  I kept hearing the rustling noise it made and then the heart racing came back, the uncontrollable shaking, inability to breathe, and couldn't get that horrible thing out of my mind.  It took a long time before I could set foot in another cemetery, even one nicely manicured.

I keep my psychiatrist and therapist very busy.

Elaine
