"Tis Friday!!!! What's new with you??????
Welcome back, George - you were missed. Glad you had a nice
time away.
Yesterday I went to Kalamazoo to the orthopedic surgeon for my yearly check up on the three joint replacements.....good news - both knees are doing excellent - one is 12 yrs old, the other 9 yrs. old. Now the bad news, the hip socket has worn away to the point the ball is 7 centimeters off center -- no wonder I'm in pain!! Surgery on
July 1st to replace the socket and clean the area up. Two day stay in
Borgess Hospital and two weeks recovery before going back to work. I will be able to walk on it right away, but he wants me to use a cane for a couple weeks. Between now and then I have two appts in K'zoo
and a pre-op physical with my PCP. Thursdays are going to be busy!
This morning I was at the hospital here in town to have blood work drawn. Drinking my decaf now and checking my cyber friends, then off to work at the bank.
This weekend is up for grabs - really do need to go and visit my cousin who has the colon cancer - she is doing really well with her chemo treatments and hasn't been sick, just some trembling in her hands that they said she might have. BIL had his first chemo treatment yesterday and did really good. Gosh Cancer is sure striking close to home...scares me.
Better get some breakfast -- blew the diet yesterday and the scales reflected that this morning.....just simply cannot cheat, it catches up with me every time. Back to basics today.
Have a great friday and a restful weekend,
Pat R.

Hi Pat and other friends...
Pat, I work at Borgess so if you would like a visitor post op please let me know and I'll drop in and see you. Call me at my office at 64882, it's my direct line that's all you have to dial when you are a patient and I'll get the call. I'd love to meet you but totally understand if you don't want visitors.
I'm doing much better with my emotional eating. Thank goodness my long lost brother has not called me. FIL is still in the hospital and not doing well but we have family constantly by his bedside.
This weekend: Graduation party for my nephew tonight after work. Saturday is another party to send off a niece that just joined the Coast-Guard. Ooopss.......Before the party I'm leading our support group here at Borgess at 1pm. Think I'll get up early and go do water aerobics in the morning.
Our church has moved so Sunday we will be in our new church. How exciting!!
Hope all goes well with your surgery. Boy, they have you back after two weeks after a revision? That's great ... I was off for six weeks afer my knee revision. Let me know if you need some help. I have three more weeks of vacation and nothing to do with them. I can always come down and help you out.
A former Press reporter who now works for WOOD-TV 8 just found out he has colon cancer ... had a bowel obstruction and when they operated, they found a tumor in his colon and it was malignant. He's doing OK and the docs think they got it early enough. Scary stuff, especially for me because my dad died of colon cancer (well, one of the reason ... he actually died of kidney failure because they decided to stop doing dialysis, but the colon cancer would have gotten him eventually, it was terminal).
Good morning. If the sun stays out I'm going to get some much needed garden work done. The garden was the wifes thing but out of habit I planted. She was crazy about fresh grown tomatoes. My son's partner comes over and fusses with the vegetabe and rose garden. He'll be here this afternoon to make some soup and bread. Their stove is messed up so until theone they ordered gets here, he does their cooking on my stove. I don't mind. He's good company. He wants to die my hair red. And he wants me to get my ears pierced. I like my salt and pepper hair and I don't want any more holes in my body than I already have. My son suggested a tatoo. He said it would make the girls take notice. What is is with all the body markings these youngsters are doing.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!
I'm up for a while. I have a question- is Metamucil ok for us? I'm forever constipated and am trying to get a handle on it. Stool softeners don't always work and I am a stubborn case.
I'm not sure what I'm doing this weekend- no firm plans yet. I had car repairs done yesterday (this, that and the other) and it all ended up costing $850... part of the job was a tune-up and it was time to change the factory plugs (100,000 miles). The plugs have platinum in them- really- I swear! I don't even have platinum wedding rings! Boy, the car is running smoothly now though!
I am starting to lose weight again...getting back to basics once more! I need a brain transplant- haha! Anyone want to join me? We'd have to find some really skinny people willing to give up their brains..... it would be quite the research project!
