I'm not a bandster, but on this forum, we support each other.  There are many people here who have had lap band, rny, and ds, and vsg, and we just compile the experience together.  I think you will find support here.

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Margie,
My best friend has the lapband. She is on the Michigan board a lot. But what do you need support with. We can be your biggest supporters.

Hang in there we are here for ya!

Doesn't Realize have some sort of their own support also? I know here in CA that advertise it as one of the reasons people should go with it. We have a few here that have been banded and can be very helpful.

i am thinking about having weight loss surgery but my biggest fear is because i am age 57 that my skin will not adjust to the surgery and i will look terrible.  are there older poeple getting the surgery and how are they handling the skin issue.  i am over 140 pounds over weight.  thanks for any imput from older clients.

Honey, I'm at a point where I care more about being healthy than about how my loose skin will look. And yes, I will have plenty of it to flap about. I think the fat that is filling that skin is a lot more unattractive. When my loose skin starts to flap, I will just remain fully clothed in publi****il I can afford to have it cut off!
I am 61, had surgery a month ago. Between pre-op dieting and post-op weight loss I've managed to get rid of nearly 50 pounds. Things are getting loose!

Slide up to close to the top of the page.  Click Forums.  Choose Surgical Groups, choose Realize Band.

But remember that you can visit as many forums as you like and that you can get some good general information here.

And please, ask your doctor and staff for medical information!  We know lots but are not the final word unless we are licensed and you are paying us.
