Aloha Lin......What a beautiful woman you are!! You remind me of Vanessa Redgrave. It's so nice to have a picture when reading posts......brings that person closer. Thank you for persisting and getting one on there for us.

Also, congratulations on the new little life coming to you in February.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Hi Margo and my OFF family:

We had some thunder boomers last night too (or early this morning while I was up). It's nice to have my digital cable back ... I was able to watch baseball again and my DVR, although it took a good half hour to get it hooked back up and talking to the Comcast tech person. Couldn't find all the cables to get it back together. I'm so tech challenged. I'm glad I didn't have to have a service call because those cost.

I talked to Margie's daughter, Lori Jo, yesterday ... Margie apparently had a heart attack, maybe caused by her blood sugars gone awry (either a spike or a sharp drop). It's strange, because Wednesday she was supposed to go to Fargo for her yearly checkup on her kidney transplant ... it was five years, according to the obit on the funeral home Web site, and 15 years since her ovarian cancer diagnosis. Wow, she was quite a survivor! I hadn't realized everything she had been through ... I knew she was involved in a lot, but not as much until I read the obit. I have to admit she was quite the lady ... her husband cheated on her, yet she still loved him (he died a few years ago). She had the courage to forgive him. Don't know if I would have ... when she told me about it, I really hated him, despite all he did for me. But Margie loved him. Tells you a lot about the woman.

Anyway, the funeral is tomorrow in Redfield, SD, and then they're burying her in Barnsville, Minn., next to Wally (it was his hometown); I can't go because I have to work tomorrow and I couldn't afford to go anyway. I told Lori Jo that I'd be there in spirit. Margie and I had talked about getting together this summer at the Mall of America, but I had to cancel because of the pay cut. Now we'll never be able to get together again. I'm going to miss her; I'm going to miss our long phone calls.

Margo, I hope your yard sale is successful and the rain holds off at least for one day. I wish we could have yard sales her, but the condo police won't allow it unless you're moving. Stupid rules!

Not much else going on. I wanted to get up and out this morning for some shopping (needed some stuff at Walgreens), but I guess I'll do it before going to work. I just feel crappy ... this weather always gives me a headache and body aches.

Well, have a good day. I guess I've rambled on enough.

Aloha sweet Eileen........Sorry to hear you a feeling yucky. I know how you feel now I think since for the past few weeks my body has been achy and just plain tired too much of the time. Hopefully I'll get some answers today.

So very sad about your friend. It sounds like you have some wonderful memories of her to keep her close in your heart. Friends that we've known for a long time are very special for they have gone through so many ups and downs with us. I'm glad you had a chance to talk to her daughter.

Hope you feel better as the day goes along.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Good morning Margo and everyone....

Still plugging along.....not liking this much. I am a mover and a doer....I am going crazy sitting around...UGH!!!

Not liking myself for being so clumsy.

The physical therapy is going well. It wears me out but I am getting better everyday so the pain is worth it.

I am able to do 12 steps up and down pretty well now. They said I am progressing more quickly because my body is toned from all the exercise I was doing.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Prayers to those in need.

Love and hugs to all.....connie d

Aloha Connie.......I can only imagine what you are going through. It just sounds painful. We have a woman who lives here in our complex who was 82 when she fell and broke her hip. Everyone thought she would never walk without help again. Well, she had been a dancer all her life....even taught children at age 82, so her body healed beautifully and you would never guess when you see her walking on the beach that she had ever broken anything.....not even hint of a limp. So.....in your case, you have youth and physical fitness on your side. If you can just hang on and get through the limitations for awhile. I know that is rough.

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Connie, Sounds like  your spit and vinegar is coming back! That's a good thing! One of my mom's favorite sayings about someone feisty. She would say they were "full of spit and vinegar!" Well, I'm sure it takes a lot of that to get through therapy each day. I remember it well from knee replacements. Like you said, not fun at all, but oh so necessary to get you back where you want to be! Hang in there and you'll be home before you know it. By the way, I saw the bug's paint job. Tell Nic it looks awesome.
