Tuesday-what's new

What a glorious 4th you will have. Give hugs from me.

We had a combined group meeting of RNYers and lap-banders. The groups meet separately every other week but on a 5th Monday I combine the two.
We learn that we are all the same but different, no matter which type of WLS we select.

A clothing exchange was part of the get together. So many clothes still had new labels, never been worn. We had stacks of clothes left over. Several people stayed to help load them in two cars for donation.

One person brought a friend who is trying to decide which surgery will suit him best. He asked excellent questions for a combined group. He learned that both surgeries work well, people have different experiences with the SAME surgery, and he needs to come to more meetings and ask questions. It is a tough decision.

Another person brought her 17 year old niece to learn about WLS. Oh dear, I really don't know about such a young person having WLS. It is not up to me but I kind of think this may be a teensy bit too young.

Have a good day.
Kisses

Good morning Annette,

Our local Children's hospital does lap bands on kids as young as 13, and rny on them as early as 16. I'm not really sure how I feel about it either. A client of my who is a nurse anesthetist (sp) said they removed a gallbladder on a 245 lb 11 yr old a couple of months ago. So, what do you do?  Lots to ponder.

All of our Post op meetings are combined rny and banders. I feel badly sometimes for the banders because so much of what we talk about doesn't pertain to them, but they still seem to get a lot out of it and contribute just as much. We're having our first clothing exchange this month, hope it goes well. I have a volunteer to take what's left over to a donation center.

Have a great day, little one!

Hi Susan,

My life may have been considerably different if obesity wasn't a factor for so many years. I have no idea if our surgeon has given approval for the teen but will let you know how this progresses.

A couple of hints about the clothing exchange. Make a card with sizes so you have them separated in stacks. Our first one was a jumbled mess of clothes and hard to tell what was what. Take extra bags for people to use. Don't let people leave without helping you pack up the extra clothes. I would have been lugging stuff for hours without help.

On my profile I have a list that someone from the TMB compiled of things that she knew 96 hours before surgery, thanks to OH.  Check it out if you like.

Work will be busy for the next few days.  Overtime 24 hours a day all this week.  Wow.  And I am only working about 5 1/2 hours on Friday night.  OT on a holiday.  Double time. yes.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!

Good morning folks.  I'm  up early to head up to see mom.  Shes mad at me for not bringing her some more embroidery squares!   I finally found something she is interested in that she can see to do!
The main reason I posted today is to wish all those of you getting together a great time!!   I hope you all have twice the fun you think you will.

Even though I don't know you folks real well yet,  and I forget to mention in most of my posts,  I do pray for each of the prayer requests each day  and think of you often and wish I  could meet some of you someday!  Every one have a great day.

Day two of my 2-day work week......woke up at 3:30 to skunk smell wafting in my bedroom window......poohie!

Yesterday morning I woke up with a scratchy throat so I called my PCP and he worked me in late afternoon --  no temperature (mine runs
around 95) but he said it was a little red, so he put me on a z-pack.
I was so scared they would cancel my surgery and he assured me it
would be okay.  Whew, that hurdle bypassed.

Have the bed changed already this morning.   Actually good news too,
the guy that was interested in the King bed came yesterday afternoon
and bought it -- hurrah, so that's gone out of my garage and I have $125 to put in my checking account.   I threw in the mattress pad, a set of really nice sheets, two king pillows, and a blanket!  Now just
have the solid oak entertainment center to get rid of.

I have no idea what to put in my overnite bag for the hospital....put in a couple pairs of big girl panties (I'm sure they won't let me wear them
in hospital)  ok, sorry TMI.  Also, chap stick, my glasses case, and my denture holder.   Any ideas??

My DS is going to be really busy this week, but he is taking me tomorrow.....DIL is working (I just knew she wouldn't come).  Sometimes I feel like an orphan.....

Time to get my last breakfast for a while.....geez I'm in a funk this morning....better get an attitude adjustment.

Have a great tuesday,
Pat R.

Continued thanks for all the good thoughts and well wishes.

Hi Pat,
I will stop in tomorrow and visit you. Can't wait to meet you in person.

As for what you want to bring to the hospital, if you want bring your own pillow if you have a nice one your sleep with. Put your name on it somewhere so the staff doesn't take it.

Oh yeah, if you like word puzzels or something like that you might want to bring it when your feeling better. When you are in your room that's when you can have your "big girl panties" on if you want to wear them.

Don't feel like an orphan, I'll be there for you. I promise. Well at least until Thursday. Friday I have off work and we are headed up north to Mackinac to stay with my BIL. We are taking our 7 yr. old granddaughter Rozi with us.

Hi Pat...I am wishing you the very best with your surgery tomorrow. I pray all goes well for you.

I always take my favorite pillow when I go to the hospital. The beds are never like mine but at least I can sleep better with my own pillow.

Hugs....connie d
