Carla,

I agree with Margo that the party is for your daughter and future son-in-law; therefore, just go and let your sister-in-law show her ass and you will not be held accountable for her.

Now George, we all know that "a good wife" is relative to what "the man" considers a good wife.  For instance, Ice Tea likes big boobs--to him that is a good wife.  My husband, on the other hand, likes a good cook.  So, good in either example is relative to what the man wants.  Now a good man, that's a different ball game.  I think most women would agree that looks and certain attributes are secondary to hard work and dependability.

I spent most of the afternoon in the stacks at the library digging out books for an article, and today will be no different.  After teaching and hubby leaving for work, I'm headed back to find at least four more books.

Tonight another couple gets the boot on so you think...  I hate to see them leave.  They are all so good.  I told my dance partner, who is one of my best friends, that I want him to lift me above his head like ada lifts his partner.  He said, oh sure and then I want you to drop down into the splits.  Yeah, I'm right on that.  LOL  I must say that I am the envy of the ball.  My dance partner is so cute and handsome and young and all those women just swoon when we walk in.  LOL.  They just don't know that he would rather be wearing the highheels and pretty skirt.  LOL.

Well, gotta get me more coffee and prepare for the morning.  I will be glad when Saturday arrives so I can get on the plane and head to philly.  Four days of observation and note taking.  Yes.

Have a good day.

Good morning, Ya'll.

Well, our daughter and her kids were supposed to leave yesterday, but the flight outta here would have gone so late they would have missed the connect in ATL and had to spend the night there.  SOOO, they came back here and we had another night with them.  Outta here at 7 AM.

Our son is building a new privacy fence in his back yard.  Due to yesterday's change of plans I was unable to help.  I will spend today down there.  I can hold posts while they pour concrete and other stuff.

Mom's lawyer called Tuesday to say we CAN do probate this month but it had to be the 13th.  So I changed my ticket to a day early.  At least we won't have to go back in August.  Hooray!!!

My band has been very fickle this week with all our company.  I'm not sure if it's stress or what.  But I am unable to eat things I can usually eat.  BUT, able to eat things I usually can't.  Strange

Morning to you, Carla and my OFF family. Today is Thursday and that means that the week end is sooo close. Just keep that in mind and you can get through today and tomorrow for sure.

Kayden is coming this morning. Shawn is bringing him at 8:15 and then is coming to get him at about 1. I first got mad that he isn't staying longer but then I got to thinking and maybe it is a good thing that he is leaving right at about the time that Grandpa leaves for work..it would be hard to lift him and since I am not allowed to lift more than 5 pounds that would be very hard to do. Not only has he weighed more than 5 pounds since the day he was born I just can't not lift him...all you Grandma's out there know just what I mean...heck he is a baby and so all of you whether or not you are Grandma's know what I am talking about. :-)

I have to take Trudy into Valparaiso this afternoon. She has to go get something. I told her the other day that I would take her. She has to be there after 1 so I know that Kayden won't be going. I am not sure what else she is wanting to do but usually there is something else for her to do or somewhere else that she wants to go to. She doesn't drive and so when she gets out (which is more often than I do!) she goes where she needs to go...or in some cases where where she wants to go. She is a sweetheart so I enjoy spending time with her. She is Bill's favorite cousin too and I can see why.

I got out of bed this morning to the sounds of Bang and knew that Misty got into something or other. It ended up being the entry hall closet and sure enough she was in there and the door wouldn't open. Bill went out there and he got the door open and here she was in there and knocked stuff over. Nothing that would break just the walker that I have in there. I had the walker since there have been times when my back goes out (and there have been times in the past when it went out more often than I have!) I have had to use the walker in order to even walk. Surgery has helped it more but there is still the possibility of it still happening. So as long as I walk the walker stays...I take no chances...but I am grateful that it isn't happening now! Thanks to wls....boy the things that we have to be grateful for....

I better get going. I am sending love and hugs to all along with prayers being said for everyone too. Know that spreading your joy helps to make not only your joy better but it might bring joy to someone else too. Our happiness grows when we give it away.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Hi Carla and OFF gang,
Carla, you go to Jared's mom house and ignore your SIL. Just have fun. Life is too short.
Knock em' dead at your HS Reunion too!!!

Today: It's time to go for a walk with Juli at 0845, gonna get that done early.
After Work: I have a Bariatric Support group to go to at 6pm. This group meets and we work on a lot of "head stuff"...good mixture of Lapbander's, RNY and Gastric Sleeves.

Yesterday I connected with an old girlfriend who does nails and pedicures, she just opened her own business and man I got pampered good!! Then walked in a gal who works for Samantha and I knew her since she was a little girl. What a hoot!! I told Becky I would call her for a massage soon, she only charges 45.00 an hour...okay when I have some extra cash...what a treat that will be!

And...yesterday grandson Remi fell on the trampoline at the sitters, cut open his chin and had to have 7 stitches. He is such a boy!! Always on the go.

You all take care and do something fun today! If you are fighting depression, hang in there and go for a walk, it will make you feel a little better. Exercise always helps me.

Good Morning Carla and Friends, Wow, your road trip puts my travels to shame! After 3 weeks, no matter where I am and how much fun I'm having I'm ready to sleep in my own bed.

I have been so busy this week that there hasn't been much time for the computer. I signed up at the gym again. A 3 month summer special. If I keep using it I'll rejoin when that is up. I had quit going and kept paying last year. Not a good combo. Not only no exercise but feeling yucky for wasting the money! So far so good, doing a bit more each day. Sure can tell that I am out of shape!

Yesterday I did 3 miles on the bike,1 mile on the treadmill, and 1 mile on the eliptical plus some weights. Today I'll raise the times on each a bit. Within a week or two I should be back up there.

Planning a retired teacher's lunch here on our deck for next week. We have a monthly luncheon for those of us retired from the middle school where we taught. About 15 each time, not always the same people but fun anyway. We're grilling burgers and dogs, everyone else is bringing the rest of the fixins'. I love potlucks. Luckily, when it's at my house I'm usually busy playing "hostess with the mostess" and don't overeat!

Erin and family will be arriving that night for 4 days so any leftovers will easily be consumed!

Gotta check email and then get in gear. You all have a good one.

Hi Carla and all my OFF friends,
Some weeks I bring in Smart Ones entrees and stick them in the freezer at work for when I don't feel like going out to lunch or have errands to run.  So I'm thinking yesterday, hmmmm, maybe I'll have Shrimp Dragoon for lunch.  I go to the freezer and it's not there and one other entree is missing too.  This has been an ongoing problem of people's lunches/snacks disappearing from the work fridge.  I posted a scathing letter on the fridge.  Mostly, I've gotten "you go there, girl" from my fellow employees/victims.  But I have not received an anonymous reimbursement as yet.
I'm getting overwhelmed by the housework and yardwork I'd like to get done before we host my sister's 25th wedding anniversary party.  I think it's time to hire the nieces and nephews to come help me.
I've gotten a handle on my eating and I've stepped up my exercise so I'm hoping to see some losses soon.  I applied for a job and need to look good in business clothes.  We got the treadmill last night free from a co-worker of my husband's.  It works pretty good.  It's sitting in the dining room right now.  I need to find a home for it somewhere in the house.
Tonight is a tea party at my sister's with Mom and my other sisters.  Can't wait.  Well, back to work.
Have a nice day!
Bev

Good Morning Carla,

Second day back at work since vacation and I'm ready for another one already.  Next one is the annual OH Indiana Campout.  I'm really excited this year that we'll have some OFF family there too.

Our vacation was so fantastic.  Spending time with Nan and Mark, Carla and Carl, Margo and Michael, and Phyllis and John was awesome.  It was such a wonderful weekend and then topped it off visiting with Pat and Fluffy.

While in Michigan, I saw my mother for the first time in about four years.  She had seen pictures but hadn't seen me since surgery.  She told me I was half the man I was last time she saw me.  I was very disappointed that she didn't say anything about Brenda's loss.  She's done so much better than me.  That's my mother for you tho.

Brought a cold back with me from Michigan, so I'm feeling crappy.  I actually sound worse than I feel tho.

I'm working on the new directory, very slow.  Still accepting changes/additions if anyone has any.  Will get it completed as fast as I can.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi Carla and my OFF family:

Carla, I'm going to miss you because I hardly saw you at all when you were in Michigan. But I know you miss your kitties.

As for your SIL, just ignore her. She wants to be the center of attention, and the best thing to do for those folks is to ignore them. Don't let her take away your joy, that is your daughter and future son-in-law.

I'm feeling a little better today. Yesterday was sleep learning. I was bushed. Some of the stuff was so much like Quark (the old program that I knew) that as we went over it, I thought, "Oh, yeah, I remember this." And as other people were having problems, I was sitting there waiting for everyone else to catch up. So class was a little boring at times and I played a little bit with the program. I did have a few problems, but that was cool because I learned from them, and so did the rest of the class (which is just four other people).

Then, of course, there was work. There  was supposed to be a late story again, but my boss said it was coming in after 11 p.m. so he said I could let the morning crew handle it and just leave a space holder for it. Because otherwise, I would have fallen asleep waiting for it. So I got out of there at 9 p.m. (still had to sit and wait for a half hour for the stocks to come in). I stayed up to watch the White Sox win (and George, congrats to the Rangers, I watched part of that game, but I was too tired to watch the end of it).

And George as to the spouse question, my idea of the perfect husband is someone who will cook and clean for me, or someone who is rich enough to hire someone to cook and clean for me. That's probably why I haven't gotten married! (I always said I was looking for someone like my dad, who would cook and clean for me ... Dad was a really good cook and housekeeper!)

Well, I got to check on the sorry state of my finances, get the garbage ready for pickup tomorrow morning. I have to pick up a whole bunch of prescriptions before I go to work today ($88 worth ... but at least that's about five prescriptions, including a lot of allergy meds, which is good because I've been out of all  my allergy meds and my eyes are itching and my nose is running).

Well, have a good day. I am so looking forward to the weekend. This has been one hell of a long week ... I'm not going to move from this house (well, I do have to get some groceries and cat food on Saturday, but otherwise ... it's going to be a weekend of vegging!)

You didn't find the guy like your Dad, I did.  He cooks, cleans (better than I do) does laundry and all the outside work.  As I've said before, I'm lazy.  Maybe after I lose some weight I'll have more energy.  Hope so.  I wouldn't trade my hubby Gary for anyone.  It's a little scarey for me tho when I read the statistics of how many people that have WLS end in divorce.  I'm determined not to be one of them.  After 34 years I think I know a good thing when I see it, and don't ever want to get rid of it.
