why would they have to have it after WLS? I think if someone is going to have to have and they wait until then it might be better or lower the risk, but I don't see a connection to wls and hysterectomy.

But I can be wrong...

Hi Darlene - I thought was in menopause ( 15 months without) and then voila - it was like the Red Sea opened up for 3 days.  Worried that I might have to have one or possible a D & C before I get banded and that for sure would screw things up time wise.

Have you discussed this bleeding with your GYN?

I haven't had any gynecological surgery since I was banded, but I had several D&C's and a hysterectomy before that.  I don't see how a D&C would delay your band surgery - my last D&C was a quick outpatient thing.  And a hysterectomy takes place nowhere near your stomach.  My hysterectomy incision is lateral, right above my pubis, about 6" away from my port.  If you had a vaginal hysterectomy, there would be no exterior incisions at all.

Not sure about the banding people, but I know that quite a few of the RNY people start in the hospital when they have surgery.....

Hi
I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago but have not had WLS.  If you have general questions about the hysterectomy I'd be happy to help........just fire off the questions.  Sorry I can't help with the WLS part of it.

Best wishes to you

5 years prior to my WLS, I wasn't having periods, most likely due from my excessive weight of 440 pounds...About 3 months after my surgery, I started having periods...It started out as just spotting here and there, and then after a few more months they got heavier and heavier...I was having bad cramping, and was flooding more than I should...My gynocologist did some exams, one including a vaginal ultrasound...Resulting in having a D&C, plus he took out my right ovary...I did okay for awhile...Then about 2 years later it got worse...So back into surgery I go again, this time he removed everything including my cervix...I feel wonderful now...

Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only TRUE FRIENDS will leave footprints in your heart...And may that friendship have such a ONENESS that when one weeps the other will taste salt...Friends are like balloons ; once you let them go you can't get them back....So I'm going to tie you to my heart so I never lose you.

I guess the worst case scenerio would be to have a hyst. and then have to wait to heal until I would be able to have WLS.  Thanks
