Aloha very special Annette.......Your stories of your little ones always make me smile, laugh or feel sad. I do not get that everyday contact that you do, so worry that my grands will think of their "tutu" as just this far away person who appears occasionally and then disappears.

Now...having said how I love your relationship with your grandbabies...I am worried about YOU. It seems like you sneak in what might be going on with you physically......and so I worry. Please take care of yourself....you have so much to live for!!!!!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

Morning all,
George that quote from Proverbs is great.....certainly says it all.

I've had my first shower in over two weeks (well I did wash up in
the sink during that time....lol) and oh my it felt so wonderful.

Had a lot of leg pain from the nerve during the nite, but took the pill twice and managed to get a few hours of sleep......it seems to feel the best when I am walking around......that's not all bad!   It is the sciatic
nerve that was damaged.

Going to do laundry today and maybe try to sweep the kitchen floor
with a broom.....I'm not supposed to use the vacuum cleaner yet, so
that will have to wait until I can ask someone to do it.

Time to get back on the bed and do my exercises now.....supposed to be doing them at least twice a day (no one told me...)

Have a good Friday,
Pat R.

Oh Pat, I am so sorry about the sciatic nerve...that is so painful. I have sciatica and nothing makes it go away for me.

I know that the sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in your body and goes under your foot...could that be the dropped foot problem you are having? Just wondering....

Take care and remember that I love you, our dear little Pat!

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.

Dear Brenda,
Yes, that is what is causing the drop foot problem -- it's all connected to the sciatic nerve......Today it is feeling really good, but then I have been up and around cleaning ever since I got dressed.   I did use the sweeper and it worked out ok...  We'll see how it feels when I sit down to rest.

Love you too, my dear friend Brenda!

Pat

Good Morning George,
Great reminder but I think the verse also applies to those of us who lost weight/are losing weight but did not have WLS like myself.  I've had to follow the "rules" of my healthy eating and exercise program strictly in order to achieve my goal and regain my life.  I'm sure if I had not stuck to it I not only would still be obese I might be facing some major health issues that could kill me.

Have a great day!

Good morning moosie and OFF gang,
Just got done with my 0545 spin class, what a work out!

Moosie- I'm so proud of you changing your lifestyle, losing your weight. You are in a class that few can claim. I couldn't take the rest of my weight off without surgery. Just put me on the playing field with others having this surgery. I was exercising at the gym and just stayed the same for years... except getting older, my health starting showing signs of deteriorating.

Both my parents died young. I was going down a path to an early grave. I  changed all that. Because I've always exercised, I think I had an easier time of it. I truly have embraced lifestyle change. Learned moderation and exercise every day.

Now the demons of "emotional eating" still hit me once in awhile. It's much better for me now and I refuse to beat myself up when I do emotional eat. I know I'm doing it now and I'm very aware of what I put in my mouth. But dang....Oreo cookies will always call to me!!!

Congrats to you on taking the steps you needed to take so you would be successful.    I was starting to look into WLS........When I started on my journey in 2007 I said if I can't do it this time I will have WLS.   I'm a big believer that it doesn't matter what path we take to reach the goal, it's reaching and maintaining that is the important part.

I've worked hard at changing my attitude and relationship with food, it is no longer my best friend and I do not turn to it for comfort or celebration but trust me, ever once in a while something will call out my name.  Lately it's Hot Dogs....loved them as a kid, always enjoyed a good hot dog from the grill, had to have one when I went to Shea Stadium to see my Mets play but have not had one in well over a year now.   For the past 3 weeks they've call out to me...I see commercials all the time and there is even a hot dog truck on a corner about 2 miles from my house (every time I leave my development I see the truck)....  Eventually I may eat one but not now, I'm not ready yet.   I'm heading out today and have already had a conversation with myself that I'll be much happier and prouder of myself if I do not stop for lunch at the hot dog truck.  wish me luck.......
Again, congrats to you!!!
