Good Morning Carla and all,

I got up a bit earlier than usual so I could post a hello to you all. I have been reading this week but just no time to stop and say hi.

I got 1 of my scrapbooks finished ( I put pics on my profile) and have about 13 pages left for the other one I am doing. I have a baby shower to go to this Saturday and those are my gifts. The little one for the new grandma and the bigger one for the mom to be.

Tom's mother is coming on August 5th for 8 days. I am not taking vacation but Tom is home everyday and he will entertain her during the day. I am looking forward to seeing her but it will be VERY stressful and I won't get to do my sitting on my bed/computer/netflix/hulu/ etc. etc. thing.

It is hotter than you know what here, we have been close to Karen Cs heat but her area is still hotter....Karen, I feel for you, girl.

I am having an ultra sound Thursday and need to keep 32 oz of water in me for 2 hours. Oh, yeah, right...that's not gonna happen...I called and told them that although I'd love to accommodate and be compliant, my old bladder and all that keeps things as they should be are just not minding me these days so would they please understand? They said they would "work with me" and to do "my best." I am so not looking forward to that. Too much info, sorry.

I have lost about 5 of the about 10 lbs I had gained and have stayed here without  too much pain and angst so maybe this is where I shall stay. Maybe my body likes it here, it's OK by me. I figure if I get back down those 4-5 that will be fine, but if I can maintain here comfortably, good for me too. It has been actually quite easy (famous last words, as I am a big Magical Thinker kind of person) at least easier than it had been. I will have some work to adjust my diet again when the summer season is over as many of the things I have been eating and feel very satisfied by eating, will be gone till next summer. Oh, well.

Gotta get up to the treadmill, have a loverly day all.
Oh, and I am bummed that I missed out on the get to know you thread and what do you miss thread....she pouts as she closes the laptop and heads up the stairs....
Take care,
Cheryl

Good morning to all....
Work is busy, have a group of retired people coming to our hospital to check out our volunteer options. Yep, a busy day today!

Stepdaughter and hubby made a bid on an old farmhouse in Hopkins. They accepted. We went yesterday after work to check out the house. Really cute and is well taken care of since  it is over 100 yrs. old. Michigan Basement in really good shape, lots of nooks and cranny's in this house with lots of personality. My hubby will be replacing the roof in a couple of years though. Great house to raise children! Pulse it's only about 8 miles from our house so it will be a nice bike-ride to go visit the kids! Hubby laughed when I said that and he said "I'll follow you in the truck"...I gotta get him to exercise more with me for sure....he's a mason, works hard and doesn't want to exercise with me in the evening...but my granddaughter will!

Take care, remember your vitamins and drink your water...

Good morning all...found out yesterday that my daughter got an assistantship through her grad school so we're headed up there today to fill out paperwork.  She'll be working under a professor at the State Mental School.  Not completely sure what she'll be doing at this point but heck it's money so we're thrilled.  We'll also stop at IKEA on the way home and buy her a new computer desk.  We rented her an efficiency appt because she'll be coming home every weekend to work so we need to stop by there and measure for curtains etc.  Anyway, our day is filled up with running around so I guess I better finish reading and get started.

Morning all:

Can't believe I slept until 7:40 this morning......I know I needed it as I didn't sleep much the night before.   Could have stayed in bed longer, but knew I needed to get up and get started on my day.

So I have done my exercises, am dressed and have hair fixed, put a load of clothes in the washer, emptied the cat box and replaced with fresh litter, eaten breakfast, and here I am.

It's rained a little already this morning, and they are calling for rain for the next 5 days......we need it desperately, everything is so dry.
I don't mind it, but then I'm stuck in the house.

Gonna try and finish a book I've been reading and not much else today.  Need to call surgeon and find out if it's ok to ride the recumbent bike, but he's in surgery today, so probably won't get
an answer until tomorrow.

Printed off Steph's zucchini bread recipe - sounds really good.   I should have a couple zucchini ready in just a few days = they grow like crazy once they get started.

The blueberry coffee cake I made yesterday turned out a little dry.
I will have to take a look at the recipe and see what I can add to make it more moist -- probably applesauce instead of the 1/3 cup oil.

Going to finish my decaf green tea and go get in my chair.  Have a good day wherever you are.  My good thoughts are with each and everyone here.

Pat whenever I substitute applesauce for oil, I double the amount.  Nothing worse than dry baked goods.

Hi Carla and all my OFF friends,
I'm still struggling with my eating.  The old demons have returned.  I need more saline added to my band so I get more restriction.  I'm having no problem eating bread, potatoes, pasta, etc.  I keep repeating the mantra "just because you can doesn't mean you should".    Relationship issues and a party have piled on the stress which is my trigger.  I lost my walking buddy when he got laid off and I just haven't gotten to the level of exercise that I had when he was here.  Mostly, I'm just mad at myself about it.
I went for a B12 shot today.  Hopefully, that will perk me up.  Good news is "they" have changed the forecast from rain on Sat. to sunny all day.  That will help my party.  Forty people in my house would be a might tight.
My niece who had the twins last week has a ton of help.  It's great for them.  They say the babies are relaxed, eating and sleeping good.  Even though they were four weeks early there are no breathing or health issues.  Blessings abound.
Going shopping at lunch for some things I forgot to get the last time I shopped.
Hugs to all,
Bev

Hi!
Just wanted to share that I know the days I eat what I call lousy carbs (pasta, white rice, potatoes, etc) I feel lousy and do not lose weight as well as the weeks I restrict my intake of them.  Please note I did not have WLS so I don't have food restrictions this is just something I know about my body.   I avoid them for the most part and really don't miss them.....it's not that I never eat them it's just a rarity for me.....I eat some potato maybe once or twice a month......same for pasta or rice about once a week maybe even less.

Listen to your body.....

Have a great day!
Ruth

Ruth,
Thanks for the encouragement.  I really need to avoid the carbs at all costs.  I did pretty good today.
Your right, I don't feel well physically or mentally when I eat them.  So why do I do it??? Duhhhh.
All I can do is keep trying.
Hugs,
Bev

If you find the answer to why we do things we know are bad for us let me know....... I need to make a life change (not food related) but have not done so yet even though I know it's slowly killing me.

Hang in there, with each successful day that passes it does get easier.
