Good Morning Jan and all,
Congrats on your house, Jan!
Laureen, congrats on your 22 years, and please give Dillinger a little hug for me.
Well, we went to Harry Potter last night had a medium pop and medium popcorn to share and parking. Ended up spending $36 bucks just for that. Movie was good, but we decided to go home and just have a little snack instead of out to dinner. Had a very nice time tho...but I guess I still remember the days of the $2 movie.
I'm going over to my sister's after work tonight and float in her little pool. It's not very big but it will be cool and relaxing. Tonight is Tom's last class for summer so I thought I'd go visit her for a bit.
I am reading Olive Kitteridge and it is pretty good so far. I read every day at lunch time and have gotten through lots of books so far.
Karen, the other night when we walked downtown along the Centennial Trail, I was having the same problem as you and was worried I would have to stop along the trail. Luckily the trail goes past some hotels so I just ran into one of those and found the restroom. But I was seriously starting to scout out a good "spot." So, good for you! You, GO, girl! (pun intended)
Have a good one all,
Cheryl

Good morning, Jan and my OFF family. We are over the hump and that is good. Just one day closer to the week end if you ask me...but then again..no one asked me. But leave it to me to add my opinion anyway!
Jan, congratulations on selling your house. I know that it is tough out there to do it now with things being what they are. But the other day I heard that things are looking better...but I am not going to hold my breath on that until it shows that for a longer period of time...I am just a bit leery about jumping the gun on things that are that important to everyone. I am just thinking they might be talking to soon. I hope not but just my opinion for what it is worth. Which isn't much.
The nurse came yesterday and she really kind of pi$$ed me off. I told her that I was sick and she jumped me on eating. Why didn't I tell the doctor about not eating because of the getting sick to my tummy..well...could it be no one seems to really give a crap? Then she jumps me that I didn't tell the doctor about the antibiotic making me potty all the time....well...gee....maybe that was because I saw her before 4 in the morning yesterday. She was re-evaluating me since it had been 2 months and since the packing isn't changed she said that she isn't coming back anyway. Well.....good if you ask me. I am so tired of having someone come in here and I just want to go back to some sort of a normal life. Having a visiting nurse just isn't normal to me. Enough on the complaining...
What makes me happy? Really and truly there is a lot of things that makes me happy. I love being a Grandma and my sweet baby makes me so happy and I seem to forget the negative things that happen in our lives all the time. I am so happy to have the family that I have. Bill is so important to me and helps me so much (I should say most of the time! ha ha). I am blessed to have all of you in my life. Knowing that I can go to all of you when I have a down day or in this case in my life...down months! ha ha I am truly blessed to have so much in my life. It may not be monetary but that isn't important in the long run...money isn't everything...yes it helps but I am so glad that it isn't my main focus. There is so much more to my life and I am grateful for that. For being able to see that and knowing that I am taken care of in ways that are important. Well....I am taking my soap box back to the corner until the next time and yes...there will be a next time I am sure!
It has been hot around her. The temperature was down yesterday but I am sure the humidity was a gazillion percent. I opened the sliding door and it hit me in the face. I closed it again. I was cold all day yesterday and today seems to be following in the same footsteps..but I would rather use a blanket ....which I did...than not be able to breathe because of the humidity. But...the sun is out and that makes the day worthwhile. I hope the sun is shining where you are at too.
I am planning on going back to the library today. I am sure they close early so I am going shortly after Bill leaves for work. I could just stay there forever and just sit by the window that looks out over the wooded area and read. I sometimes just sit and watch the woods...it is peaceful to me. Peace is always good if you ask me.
I will go now...I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are being said for everyone too. Have a great day and remember to scatter...that is what we were put here to do...scatter, scatter and scatter some more.

Morning Jan and my OFF buddies,
Another rainy morning here in Central AR. Raniest July on record, lowest temps, too. I feel so badly for our friends in the Pacific NW, it sounds brutal there. Especially since it is heat they're not prepared for.
I got to take the dressings off the three little incisions on my belly today. How can surgery be performed through three little holes this ______ big?? Amazing. It's not wonder that I was able to work a 10 hour day yesterday without any trouble. Life is good.
Laureen, congratulations on your 22 years. You're an inspiration. I've been thinking about you a lot with your Dillinger. Our Old Dog is failing, but some days are better than others.
Not much else going on here. Gary's department is having a picnic for his Drug Court Participants tonight and I've been invited, Not exactly my idea of an evening out, but I'll go because, well, just because.
Everyone have a great day!

I love these meatballs and the little ones were a hit with the girls. However, I do not like the messy pan. What to do? Do you spray it with Pam or something. I swear half the meatball was left on the pan. I scraped it off (shoveled?) and ate it myself. It was crunchy so it was good. Have to figure out something to keep it from making such a mess. Thought about lining the pan with foil but I can't stand it if I get even a tiny bit of foil in my mouth with all of my dental work. Sends me right through the ceiling.

Karen, I spray everything with Pam -- makes clean up so much easier.
Morning off'rs.....
It's a nice cool morning here - had a cold front come thru yesterday. They are calling for possible showers this evening - good, because we still need more rain.
Ended up at the foot doctor yesterday -- the second toe on my operated leg had a blister on top and bruised looking on bottom. He wanted to see me -- he removed a lot of callous from the toe and then bandaged it.....he really thinks I should be wearing a brace....I told him I was doing exercises for the tendon, so he sorta backed off. Anyway he wants to see me again in ten days.
Nothing much doing today....gonna rest and take it easy. The walmart trip went great, Connie. Yesterday I went to Kroger, but that was a short trip. Feeling much better driving each time out.
Congrats on selling the house, Jan. WooHoo Laureen on 22 yrs sober....that's awesome.....(prayers for your Dillinger).
Good thoughts to everyone...

Pat, When my Mom had her first hip replacement the resident that was helping the surgeon clamped the sciatic nerve by mistake. She had a lot of trouble and pain and ended up with a 'dropped foot', which meant when she picked it up her toes stayed down and sort of dragged. The doctor said the nerve would heal at about a 1/2 an inch a month. Mom used a spring brace on her shoe which brought up her toes when she went to walk. It worked great and after a while she didn't need it anymore because eventually the sciatic nerve healed. I was really glad when she got the brace because then I didn't worry as much about her taking a tumble. You might want to reconsider the brace.

Yeah Jan, that's what I have, drop foot syndrome from the sciatic nerve being damaged during my recent hip surgery.....wonder now how often this happens....your Mom isn't the only one who I've heard have had this happen.
It's been four weeks since surgery -- the surgeon said it should heal in two weeks to two months -- I'm betting on the two months. I can walk pretty good now without tripping because the toes are not drooping as much, so I'm not going to get the brace. Besides I am very careful when I walk and use the walker inside the house and outside too. The brace they wanted me to wear went from my foot all the way up to my knee.......no way, Jose!
Thanks for your comments tho', I appreciate your concern. Right now I am mainly dealing with a lot of pain in the ankle and foot -- the neurotin helps but wears off way before I can take the next one.
Isn't there a music camp at Interlochen?? Seems like some of our gifted musicians used to go there in the summers.

There is a music camp there. right across the lake from us. in fact, sometimes we can hear some of the concerts from there. I worked there one summer in the news bureau and absolutely loved it.
Hope your nerve heals quickly. My Mom was a nurse, so of course she didn't take any legal action, but she had just cause.
