What's new revue for Thursday

Hey Margo, I hate when our children run into obstacles.  I want to move them but know if I do, then I will be mom the moving man and not mom.  I do what I can to help when it is possible, but I cannot save them from every single mess they create.  Somewhere there has to be a lesson to be learned or skills acquired from working it out.

Today, is the last day that I am going to my office.  The papers are starting to get turned in and I am finished with conferences and my office floor is getting worked on and that damn drill is killing me.  I have to go Friday for a meeting but after that, I am off until Fall semester.  yeah.  Well, I have to do the grades and turn them in but that is easy work.

I am looking at a new bike.  It has a really nice seat, handle bars that are fitting for an older woman, the pedals are not straight down but more like a recumberant bike, and the chain is bigger, making turning wheels easier.  Plus it has gears.  The only problem, the cheapest is 350 bucks.  Hubby says that he thinks that is excessive and I remind him that I ride every single day and he says but that is a lot of money and I remind him how I need to do this or I will gain all of my weight back and he reminds me that I am supposed to gain some back and then he says, you gain twenty pounds, you get the bike.  Like I need his permission. Ha.  So, maybe he is right.  Maybe I need to do something and get rewarded.  I don't know.  I know that I go get weighed next week and am supposed to be in Kansas so I should go Friday but haven't had a chance to make up all the eating that I missed.  Crap, I hate this.  Okay, I'll weigh Friday.  Do you know, they make me wear a gown to weigh.  What the crap is that about? Which kind of makes it difficult to wear heavy clothes or ankle weights, not that I would do that, but I could see dishonest people doing that.

You guys have a good day.

Last night it supposedly went down to 59 here.  This morning is quite cool here.  i slept with a sheet and blanket lastnight.  Yikes, and it's only August.  I wonder if we're going to have a short summer.
Hubby is making a trip up north with a lot of our stuff this weekend.  My brother is coming over with his pick-up and we're going to load him up too.  We think we're going to put our grandfather clock in the bed of his truck.  The bad part is he's only got a 6' bed on his truck and the clock is bigger than that so i figure we can wrap the clock in shrink wrap to save it from getting wet.  Oh, the weatherman just said 'possible chance of showers Friday' and next week it's going up into the 90's.  I guess that blows my short summer theory.
Haven't taken the old girl for her walk yet cuz it's too cold and I'd have to wear a jacket!  I refuse to wear a jacket in August.
Are grapes bad for me because of the skins on them?  how abou****ermelon?

It is what it is.
If He brings you to it, He'll bring you through it...

I still cannot eat grapes.  The skins and the seeds are horrible on new pouches.  And watermelon might still be too fibrous.  The sugar might make you dump and the seeds.  Did your doctor say you could eat raw fruit.  I couldn't eat raw anything for like six months.

Jani,
All docs are different with foods and please be aware so early out you may/will dump on fresh fruits.
If you do eat fresh fruits, eat a piece of cheese along with it to balance out the natural sugars in the fruits.

If you eat grapes I'd just suck out the grapes from the skin and toss the skin out.

Jan, Grapes are one of the few things that give me trouble. I can eat a couple. Any more than that and I get the runs. . . and quickly. I think it's the skins. Too rough. Go easy. Watermelon should be fine unless it's too sweet.

While shopping with my client, I found cotton lounge pants on sale for $3.00. When I walk in the house, I immediately strip and put on my jammies. Tom has made a few comments that I am never dressed lately. These are just as comfy, and not so obviously bed clothes.

Matthew talked to me on the phone and began to wail " Grandma, come HOOOOME". The little guy thinks his house is HOME and that's where I belong.

Hugs to all.

Nice cool morning here in Sturgis..........

So good to have a day off --- I wouldn't have said that last week when I was winding down my whole month off!  Three days of work in a row and man was I tired yesterday when I got home.   My three shelf cart was fully loaded with new pd files and it took me almost an hour to get them sorted and put into stacks.   So much for any progress I made on Monday and Tuesday.

Today I stripped the bed and have the washer and dryer going.  My neighbor guy came over and put more stakes in my tomato bushes.  He also picked two more nice zucchini for me and some green peppers.
I have one tomato turning red.....he gave me three off his plants and I ate a whole one for supper last nite --- so good!!!

Have to do an online Bankers Edge class today sometime -- I missed doing it in July when I was off work.

Gotta go - have a good day everyone.   special thoughts to those in need.

Hugs,
Pat R.

Good morning to you, Margo and my OFFer's. I hope that today is not good but great for us all!

Bill is home from work today and tomorrow without pay I might add. He left work last week 45 minutes early with a migraine. He told the guy that worked with him to let the field manager know if he came in. Well, he came in and guy never told him. So...he got 2 days off and so did Bill's manager because they left early one day for something or other and so they are off today and tomorrow too...or at least I think it is the same days. I am not sure how I am going to make up for the lost money on the pay check next week but I guess it is what it is and what am I going to do about it? Not much I can do right now. So I accept it and go on thanking God that Bill still has a job in these times.

I go with my sister and Brittany to register her for school. Brittany is going into intermediate school this year and so she is going into a new school. She is kind of scared and I know what she is feeling like having remembered what it is like. So since Carolyn can't get around to good I am going and helping Brittany find some of her rooms and her locker and such. DS has a problem with relating to people if it has nothing to do with her....she seems to only see the BIG I most of the time. Not always but most of it...mostly where her daughter and granddaughter are concerned. According to her they are suppose to live only for what they can do for her and no one else. ha ha  I could only wish that I had people in my life that would do that for me!!!!!  Heck I don't even do that for myself most of the time!

Today is sunny and warm. This weekend it is suppose to be in the low 90's with the heat index being in the low 100's. That is the hottest that it has gotten this summer. I am staying home in that mess for darn sure! I just can't take that nasty stuff anymore. My heart goes out to all of you having to suffer through such heat that you are having this summer.

I better get going. I am going to have Bill help me get this mess cleaned up while he is off this long week end. I guess that is one good thing about him being off...he is off 4 days in a row...but then he isn't going to want to go back to work on Monday. I expect to make a huge dent in this stuff here...things to the storage and tossed and to Goodwill too. A bit here and a bit there is good.....

I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are being said for everyone too. Have a great day and don't forget to scatter for it is in scattering that we gather. But sometimes we have gather since we have nothing to scatter and that is alright too...we have to allow others to scatter theirs too. Have a great day........

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
