My one year is Tues. 08/11

It's my day to celebrate ME!!  I've worked hard for this day.  I've lost 124 lbs.  Imagine that!!  I've got 10 more that I want to lose. However,  I'm so grateful for this new body, health and mind set.  I started this journey thinking that it wouldn't work for me.  Not me!   I'd tried every diet out there.

I used to have diabetes (Type II), high blood pressure, bad knees and my breathing problems were so bad that I couldn't walk across the room.  My sleep apnea was so bad that I almost lost my drivers license!  Now, it's manageable.  I've lost all other co-mobilities and the medicine for them.

I want to thank ALL of you for being here so I could drink in all of your knowledge.  I've gotten my answers and support from you.  Suzette50 has been my day to day support by phone.  Thank you, girly.  You never knew how much you have helped me along the way.  I used to be a hermit in my home.  I wouldn't get out and meet others.  Now I have new friends, thanks to this forum.

I only pray that with your help I won't gain all of that back.  That's my biggest fear.

My love and lots of hugs for each of you.  Think of me tomorrow, 08/11.

A happy dance just for you Pat!

How wonderful to have a New Lease on Life! I look forward to having my 1st yr surgiversary! But- I have a looonnng way to go.. just heading toward 3 weeks out. So when I see the success that others have had it gives me a great feeling of confidence that I too can accomplish this task!

Making the decision was not easy- it took me some time- but once I did the research and gave serious thought to my past DIET history and my future prospects with the co-morbidities it was an either or choice!

Either I have the surgery and take a chance on living! or sit here and wait till these comorbidities kill me slowly.

Interestingly, my last blood work pre-op revealed that I was just starting to develope diabetes! For years, there were times when i felt off and would check my blood sugar - but it was not at a level considered dangerous. So- when I spoke to the surgeon about the developing diabetes.... he said-- Not to worry the surgery will take care of that!  so... another reason I'm glad I had it done!

but again let me emphasize! I TRULY APPRECIATE EVERYONE WHO HAS GONE BEFORE & HELPED ME DECIDE TO DO THIS- BECAUSE OF YOUR SUCCESS- I KNOW IT CAN BE DONE!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

JEllen,  I celebrate because I'm alive!!  My husband and I are biking daily.  I walk, I get down and play with my grands.  I didn't think I was going to live long enough to see this last grandson born.  I had also been diagnosed with congestive heart failure!!  Boy, was that one a shocker!
But, now, you will find out.....it still surprises me when I can pull on those size 4s because it used to be stretching into a size 24.
Millie is so right when she says....."Ain't life grand".
JEllen, we are all here to help you along the way.  We have all been where you are and we'll celebrate your "WOW" with you (yes, you will have them).
