Poop

I knew the subject would get you guys in here.
Why in the world is my poo so odoriferous these days?  I used to be able to say that 'My **** don't stink' and mean it.  Not any more.  What's going on?  Is it the vitamins and supplements or just the rearranged guts?  I can't even stand to be in the bathroom with myself these days.  Doing a lot of courtesy flushes!  YUK

Yep, Jani- I have to agree with you. I'm not sure why, but my poop sure does stink now. Remember the days when you used to like the smell of your own? LOL No more. My gas is also mostly unbearable. I have to be very careful about eating beans before any "event".

Good question, I 've been asked to light a match before I open the bathroom door. I drink enough water to float a boat, I do eat a lot of veggies, yum, and lean meat. I'm guessing that we don't have enough gut to break down the waste . Peg

Your poop from now on will peel wall paper or paint off the walls, it's one of the benefits of the surgery. Your digesting your food different. Your eating more protiens. You can tell a vegetarians poop from someone that eats meat....their's doesn't smell...

So, just sit back and get use to it...on another note this is a bold sales pitch, but I am selling Scentsy now and we have the best stuff or making the houses smell good, we even have small ones like night lights that can be put in the bathrooms and make them smell good....

Great.  Too bad I hadn't had the surgery when I was removing the wallpaper.  It would have been a big help!
Even hubby can't stand it :)  Makes me proud

HI Jani
I know what you mean. We have all gone through this. It does get better, but, what is happening is called Ketosis from the WLS & losing weight quickly. This is the official
reason of the smell : See Below

A  person in ketosis is getting energy from ketones, little carbon fragments that are the fuel created by the breakdown of fat stores. When the body is in ketosis, you tend to feel less hungry, and thus you're likely to eat less than you might otherwise. However, ketosis can also cause health problems, such as kidney failure (see below).

As a result, your body changes from a carbohydrate-burning engine into a fat-burning engine. So instead of relying on the carbohydrate-rich items you might typically consume for energy, and leaving your fat stores just where they were before (alas, the hips, belly, and thighs), your fat stores become a primary energy source. The purported result is weight loss.

got from WEBMD:
As your body settles into the new eating patterns & comes to a comfortable weight, the
smells will go away. You probably don't realize it, but, your breath probably doesn't
smell real great, either. Are you eating a lot of ments & mouthwash these days, its because of the same thing.
Hope this helps

Yep, the breath smells too and I knew that was from ketosis, but I didn't know the other was.  It's just plain nasty.  I can rival any man now!

There are some more vitamins listed in the blue book about that
says that it helps. and to get plenty of OUST bathroom spray.

Blue Binder page 51

Take 50mg of Zinc twice a day
Use deodorizing spray or other product:
Scentex matches ( carried in your purse or pocket)
03 by Sentex (small purse size spray)
    ozium
Arm & Hammer spray for  your bathroom at home
Dow Citrace ( available at Hospital or medical supply outlets)
Pine sol Liquid ( pour in toilet after use)

It is also recommended that you flush frequently if you suffer from malodorous bowel movements.

Hope this is helpful.

Jan,

LOL - you're too funny!  LOL LOL - I got a good laugh from your post this morning!

I haven't been eating meat, so I haven't had this problem.  Thanks for the forewarning, though.  I did have a small amount of Wendy's chili the other evening, but it wasn't that much to matter.  My diet mainly consists of refried beans.  I made some veggie chili last night that was excellent.  First veggies I've had since surgery, but it was mainly beans.  No gas for me, thank God!  LOL

Good luck in finding a spray that cures the odor - lol

Just wait until it happens to you!  You won't think it's so funny then.  It's sickening and disgusting.  Hopefully when I finish losing and go to maintaining it will get better.  Just wait girlie, your time is coming too!!
