Finally Friday....What's New?

Sandy,

I totally relate to the 3 sizes, my smallest size is a 10 (and that's only in Ralph Lauren), 12 seems to be the size that fits my bottom, but the tops generally need to be 14 and dresses, size 14 works.  Tops are also confusing, as sometimes a large works, others a medium. . .  aah the problems of the less fluffy me. . .  Janet gave me an idea though, which was to write down what sizes I was in the different manufacturer sizes, seeing as there is no conformity there and keep them in my wallet or purse for when I shop.

Hope you enjoy shopping for your new dining room set, tomorrow I take delivery on my sofabed for the sun/family room and the new bed and mattress, no more shopping for me until this is all paid off.

Enjoy, Laureen

I wonder if I have changed my eating addiction to a shopping addiction.  I get antsy and want to get out of the house.  I do go to the gym 5 days a week so after work I tend to walk the stores.  Problem is that it is so much fun to shop now a days.  I start a part time job on the 24th.  That should help.  it will keep me busy and I will make $ instead of spending it.  We will see.
My body does not define who I am but I am trying to define my body.  It  gets easier with every pound I drop.

Will be working on finishing the remodeling to our kitchen, it's almost done. Next is replacing the floors. Ahhh....it never ends...Let the sun shine in! LOL

Good Morning Candy & OFF Friends,

Hope all goes well with your appointment today.  I am making a list of what and who is getting gifts this year and hoping to finish before Thanksgiving (we shall see), the list is not a long one and money is tighter than in the past, so I'll really be looking at what is on sale that fits the individuals on my list. . .

As for watching food intake, I hear that, yesterday was not a good food day, we had pizza at the office and I had 2-1/2 slices (they were not huge), not all at once but over the course of the afternoon, so dinner was a yogurt with granola and a small piece of cheese.  However, when I went to my AA meeting, there is a gentleman who buys candy and puts it on all the tables and now there is a gentleman who has started bringing donuts from this supposedly famous bakery, well every week he brings them and asks me to have one, to which I've told him in the past, oh, thanks but the only donuts I ever touch and rarely at that, are jelly donuts, to which he stated that by the time he buys the donuts there are no jelly donuts left, this is a good thing for me, well guess what, last night he actually brought one for me (OMG!).  Well this person does not know I've had WLS which is why I told him I only eat jelly donuts, in part it is true, but also so as not to slight him when he offered me a donut, well, you might guess it, I people pleased (excuses, excuses), and ate the jelly out of the middle and a couple of bites of donut, after which I threw out the rest(for the newbies out there, I don't dump on limited amounts of sugar), anyway, today and the rest of this weekend will be spent making very good food choices, because I certainly did not make them yesterday!

Well tomorrow I get my new furniture for the sun/family room I had built, as well as the new bed I ordered, which is very nice, cedar storage underneath and the mattress I purchased just last week for it.  I am putting all plastic away for the foreseeable future, I must pay off this furniture within a year or pay interest and I don't like paying interest. . .

I guess that about sums things up for now.

George, I don't envy your position, I remember how the supervisor and HR director looked laying off all of us back in March, never an easy thing to do. . .

Margo, hope your moving goes well. . .

Everyone else, I wish you a wonderful day and as always, the strength to face whatever life presents you with today.

Prayers, positive thoughts & hugs, Laureen

Wow - so many of you start in early.  Not me.  I can't post until I'm safely at work!  Takes every minute of my early morning getting here.  I still sip only on water, so waking up gets little assistance.  I kind of miss my coffee buzz in the morning!

We went out last night to hear some friends play music at the Eagles club - they play cajun and zydeco music.  My good friend is in town from Louisiana as we are giving her daughter a baby shower this weekend.  It will be so fun!  I am in charge of the punch (good old gingerale/cranberry/orange) and making brownies (mine are special, I guess!).  I also have the honor of having the notebook of advice - friends will write their tips in it for Amanda.  Cute, eh?   I also have to unearth a baby picture of myself for the guessing contest.   Lots of fun planned.

I am on my 7th week, should be introducing regular foods, but haven't done too much of it.  My stand-bys - yogurt, cottage cheese, and string cheese along with my clear protein drink (Isopure) w/ 1/2 cup of apple juice.  Last night we did bake fish and eat some of that, along with a small scoop of squash.  The variety was nice.

Michael (DH)'s surgery is finally scheduled for December 16 - so that will help matters.

Hope everyone has a good day and wonderful weekend!

Mary...not to be lecturing here but do try to get in regular foods. You need them for your pouch and good health. Dense protein makes us uncomfortable and that is a signal the pouch is working. Those slidder foods don't make us uncomfortable and don't stay with  you long enough. They don't give the pouch a signal of ever being full. You will continue to need more and more to feel that full sensation.

This is just my opinion.....sorry if I seem bossy!

Hugs...have a good day...connie d

You are not bossy at all!  Thanks for the information.  I didn't think of that.  I'm still measuring, and 1/2 cup fills me up.  I will be more willing to try meats.  I had a problem with chicken and it kind of shook me up, I guess.  I'll try others.

Mary....Chicken is a tough one to handle especially at first. Try ground beef, beef roast, fish, turkey (dark meat is easier for me). I can only eat pork tenderloin as a pork chop is too dense for me.I have had very tender BBQ ribs...felt a little heavy afterwards but I didn't get sick. For some reason I can eat steak...it has never bothered me...I guess I must chew it good...I buy very tender cuts as well.

I wish you the very best!!

Hugs again....connie d

Good morning, Candy and it is nice to see you start us this morning. Hello to my OFFer's too....today is Friday and it is the 13th on top of it so let's make this a great day! I always liked Friday the 13th's....it is amazing to me just how superstitious people are.

Kayden is sleeping on the floor. He is in a cranky mood but I know that he is working on a ear infection. I feel so bad for the little guy. He seems to get the crap end of the stick by his parents. They just can't seem to see him in this mess. They both think that they are seeing him but they aren't. DS started anger management yesterday. He likes the therapist that he is working with and so I really pray that it works. He has a lot to work through. But I told him that all he needs to do is name it, claim and dump it. I told him that he needs to do this for him and not for anyone else. I told him that if he needs to do it for someone do it for Kayden so that he doesn't have to go through the same thing since he is going to learn from him. DS learned most of his anger from the stepfather....a long story and not one that I want to get into right now.

I am feeling terrible. I am congested and on a antibiotic now. Thanks to my doctor. The emergency room doctor didn't do anything. My doctor knew right away that I should have had a antibiotic. The coughing is terrible and so I do nothing but gag all the time. I know....TMI now!

It is sunny out this morning. I know that it is suppose to be in the low 60's and that makes me happy. I love it when the sun shines...it makes the worst weather more bearable when that happens. It can be freezing and if the sun shines I can get through it.

They finally got Bill's unemployment straightened out. It is about time. I guess it didn't take 6 weeks after all. It only took them 3 weeks so I guess we should consider ourselves lucky. So he is paid up to date now and it should be back on track now. All of this for a vacation pay check. You would think that they would have a better way of doing this stuff than they do. At least I would think so but then again it is always easier to have an answer when you don't need to have it isn't it? ha ha

I am going for now. I am hungry and need to eat. Imagine that...needing to eat and not just wanting to eat...I would have never thought I would have that problem.

I am sending love and hugs to all and prayers are being said for everyone too. Have a great day and don't forget to spread sunshine.

It's not what you gather, but what you scatter
that tells what kind of life you have lived.
