Starting over again.
Ive been here before but not for a very long time. I had RNY in Jan. 06. Did really well. By 8 months out I was under goal. Then a he double toothpicks went wrong in my life and I have lived under extreme stress ever since. I managed to put 35 to 40 pounds back on. I am now trying to start over and get that weight back off. I have moved into an area that doesn't have a support group, but have thought about starting one. I need it as much or more than anyone else. I have started lurking back on OH and have spent a lot of time tonight looking aet before and after pics. It has given me an incentive to really go to work and get back where i aimed for when I had my surgery. I can handle all the moral support I can get. I am back. I think the hardest thing I've had to do was to come back with weight gain...I felt like a failure..everyone else SEEMED to be successful and happy and there I was, sitting sadly and hating what had happened to me, by me, because of me or because I fell back into old coping mechanisms to deal with stress.
So I KNOW that, to come back, starting over, took alot of courage for you to do, and I say CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU for taking that first step. Now you will work your way forward with the support of the rest of us..we've all been there in various degrees...welcome back! :}

You're exactly in the right place. I just started back to O.A. (after a 16 year leave). Doctors can operate on my stomach, my hip, remove excess skin from my body (and today I'm thin) but no one can operate on my brain and make me "normal".
I love O.A. because they really seem to understand my compulsive nature. This morning it was raining hard (even in L.A.) but I still went out for my morning 2.5 mile walk. Compusilve???Me??? You bet!
Good luck to you. You'll get there and I'm right beside you to offer encouragement, strength, and hope.
