Wow, thanks Kathy,,those were sweet words.

Today I have made up my mind to remind myself of the success that I have had since I had the surgery, instead of focusing on the regain. I am still over a hundred pound down, still dont have all the co morbidities that I had,,still a hundred percent healthy. Those are big things.
Today Im not looking at over a hundred pounds to lose,,and thats a great thing because sometimes that looked like an insurmountable thing. I can do this,,one pound at a time!

Thanks again, and have a blessed day!

(((Betsy)))

I think it's possible to lose some if not all you regained.  I saw some suggestions about an eating plan for RNYs that have gained weight, it's called a pouch test?  I'm not familiar enough with it to know the details.  I saw you had other replies and I'm thinking you've already probably gotten a lot of good advice.  Anway, I think it would be good to go "back to the basics" in terms of shakes.  If it's too drastic to just do shakes, maybe just do one meal of shakes as a replacement?

I well understand about stress eating!  I think we all get it and the main thing is, don't kick or beat yourself up about it.  The good thing is, you're realizing this at a 30lb weight regain when it's easier to do something about it.  Don't listen to family members who say you still look better and relax and enjoy life.  Easy to say.  You know your own body.  You just need a different way to cope with the bad stuff.

I have that issue right now too.  With me, it's a little different.  My tummy is still small so I'm unable to self-medicate with food because it'll make me sick (and it did last night).  So I'm forced to figure out another way to deal with stress.

And the thing is, you can't just wish the stress away.  There's traumatic events, like what happened to you.  Sometimes it helps to write the stress out or do something else to keep your hands busy.  You'd mentioned exercise and that's a great one but hard to do when it's cold out.

I'm starting to ramble but the main thing is to not kick yourself.  Pat yourself on the back because you see what's happening and now you are moving to do something about it.  We're all here for you, ok?

Thanks Cassie for the post and encouraging words. Yes, I am going to start the 5 day pouch test in the morning along with another old friend from this forum. I know it helps to reshrink and resensitize the pouch,,and it gets rid of all the cravings as well.

Thank  you for agreeing with me about the family comments..I may look good to them,,but I sure dont feel good about it myself.

I stopped yesterday and said,,Ok,,take a deep breath and relax and work on one day at a time, I cant lose it overnight,,so I started making the necessary changes yesterday.  Today has gone well too.

Have a blessed day!

Hi Betsy,
You did great posting my friend that is the first step.
Hey, I feel like you and I'm 54. Regain or rebounding is normal and we need to not stress on it but to take action.

I detoxed my body of sugar for 3 days. It was hard but I did it!
I also exercise and praise God that I have so many exercise buddies. I'm glad you reconnected with your friend. Support is so important to us.

I want you to know you ARE a success, you just gotta make yourself exercise. Wintertime? I do know it's hard. We miss the sunshine, we fight the winter blues. You can take off those pounds you want to lose but it will take time. There's no contest on who loses the fastest. Why? Because this is for lifetime. Baby steps. You will reconnect with your pouch. Lots of people gave you excellent advice. You just have to decide what works best with YOU. We are all different.

Here's what I did to detox my body from bad sugars and carbs, very simple to do.
I drank Atkins shake for breakfast and lunch along with 3 fresh fruits a day.
For dinner I ate chicken, steak, fish with veggies. If I was hungry later at night...and I always am, sometimes I drank Muscle Milk Light or baby carrots if I needed some crunch or pickles.
I also drank 100 oz. of water a day and I tried to exercise. I wasn't 100% on my exercise, I'm not beating my self up, just going through a lot of stuff with my hound dog Angel...who is failing fast.
I want to reach for comfort foods but so far I haven't.

Good Luck Betsy, you are not alone. Keep posting. Sending you hugs!!

I can only tell you what this very young 72 yeat old did...I had lap RNY in 2004, lost about 80 lbs and proceeded to gain almost 30 lbs over the next 6 years.

Last Oct. 09 I went on a 5 day protein drink program with just pro and 80 oz SF liquid.  This really gave me a junp start and my pouch responded well.

Since that time I have lost over 20 lbs and all I've done is to go back to the basic program...protein 1st.  The only carbs I eat are veggies. I have at least 70 gm protein and no sugar or flour.

It is never too late.  Grandma Moses started painting when she was 84and was still painting at 100.  Two weeks ago I had a brachioplasty (arm lift) and I feel like a new person!

Good luck!  MJ

Thanks for the encouraging words! I finally realized that this is not a race or a contest to see who loses or keeps the most weight off, its about lifetime change. Im taking it one day at a time. So far, so good.

I went to the store and got some protein shakes, plus I have a big jug of powdered protein to make my own. I just bought the others for a variety. Im drinking more water and that helps. Today is day one of the 3 day pouch test,,I know that works as I have done it before.

You both said the magic words...detox! That is really what I needed to do because I had been on a binge for about a month...too many carbs and sugars. This week should take care of that as well as any cravings.

I am gonna start the walk away the pounds dvds too,,at least it will get me moving. When the snow is gone, and it is melting here, Ill walk my schnauzer around the block a few times. It will do  us both good..lol.

Thaks for the help and advice. It was very much appreciated!

Have a blessed day!
Betsy
