Morning Crewmates!

Day 5 of the dreaded cold. I feel a tiny bit better, but not a whole lot. Gary wanted a nice pot of chili and I have no idea whether it was any good or not, couldn't taste it. He ate it, but then again, that's no indication of how it tasted...LOL

Not much on the menu today. Will have to see how the day goes.

latte

quiche cup w/ 1/2 ww English muffin

L----???

d--baked chicken thighs.  Will fill in the details later

Well, heres day 2 of the pouch test,,although I guess I should start over. I caved last night at supper time and had a bowl of 15 bean soup with sausage. I felt so guilty,,but then I thought,,this is stupid. Ill just start again in the morning. I didnt eat any sugar and the only carbs I had were a few little crackers with the soup.

So, here we go again,,

B- Protein shake
S= bouillion
L- protein shake
D- another protein shake..

And LOTS of water,,and coffee...

Cross yer fingers for me folks...

Blessings

Betsy, don't beat yourself up or even think of eating soup as a failure...that's what made us fat to begin with. How about thinking to reset your pouch something a little easier on you.

This is what I did and it worked for me but we are all different.

Only 3 days of protein shakes for Breakfast and Lunch along with 3 fresh fruits thoughout the day. If you need crunch have baby carrots or celery or pickles. Then for supper have beef, chicken or fish with veggies.

I'm crossing my fingers for you Betsy. Getting the weight off and it will come off is just keep trying. You are not a failure. YOU are on top of this. It's all good. Slow and steady.

Hi Susan:

Glad your cold is winding down at last, however slowly.   Today's menu doesn't look too hot.  Maybe you can't really think about food when you can't even taste it.

My monthly bariatric support team met yesterday.  First we had open mike for 1 hour; then there was a surgeon who lectured about complications and revisional surgeries.  His point seems to be that "your first time is your best chance,"  'cause after revisions the rate of complications go way up and patients lose weight a lot more slowly than the first time.

Anyway, here is today's plan:

B - cottage cheese pancake, 1/2 tsp PB, 1/2 banana
S - 10 almonds

L - Split pea soup, cheese stick
S - 10 almonds
D - (Birthday party)  some rib meat and salad, SF mousse
S -  Muscle milk light

Exercise:  Dance your pants off Richard Simmons video
               Core and arms workout

The birthday party is for a cousin who had RNY over two years ago and has turned into a raging alcoholic.  He is in complete denial, even though he usually starts drinking on Friday night until he passes out, then does the same thing on Sat and Sun.  However, he denies having a problem because he says it does not affect his job, and because "I can stop any time I want."  Famous last words.  I am very worried about him, but I'm done trying to reason with him.  If he starts drinking at the party, I'll just leave.

Smooth sailing to you and all the chewbies out there.

Ciao,

Maria

HI Maria,
Good for you making a plan ahead of time for the party.
Your cousin is what I call a working alcoholic, he can hold down a job and drinks from Fri thru Sun night. As long as he can manage working along with his drinking he will be in denial.

Good luck and just concentrate on you and your lifestyle change. We can't fix the world or others. Just ourselves...we just gotta take care of us and love us. We can take care of others but when they are adults it is their choice on how they live it.

Hi Debie:

I don't know why I started a rant about my cousin, but it felt good to get it off my chest.

You're right about not changing anyone but ourselves.  Someone told me once that the only time you can change a man is when he is in diapers. (A bit of ca-ca humor).

Well, gotta go get ready for the party.

Maria
