From the Eating Coach...I know most of us can relate to this one! Hugs-Debbie

Sometimes life can feel like is it conspiring against your best efforts to help yourself. You know how that goes, every time you are all set to cook at home, your meetings run late and you end up grabbing a bite at some fast food place because now your schedule is all behind.

And then there are those times where the loved ones in your life don't seem to be supporting you in your effort to manage your weight. That hurts! You know that they don't really mean to do it, but still -- can't they see how hard you are working to make these changes???

This is the time that I see many of my clients flounder. Not getting the support you feel you should from those who love you best can throw off your internal compass.

Don't let it.

Yes, I know it is hard. But keep in mind that nobody cares about your experience in this world as much as you do. That's not to say they don't care at all -- You know they do and they care a lot! Just not as much as you because they don't live in your body 24/7.

So don't let your perception of their lack of support cause you to get off track. You can do it -- and you are the ONLY person that can do it for you!! Right-click here to download pictures. To help protect your privacy, Outlook prevented automatic download of this picture from the Internet.

Debbie:

I stopped relying on family and friends since my divorce ten years ago.  It became a freeing experience to realize that people lose interest in a woman after she turns 50 and single.   Now I maintain friendly relations with everyone, but rely on no one for validation,.

Take last Saturday's BBQ.  There wasn't a single thing I could eat.  I was not upset, just drank some Muslce Milk I had in my purse and enjoyed the people and the music.  The hostess, however, was hurt that I would not eat anything she cooked.

In my other life, I would have eaten the crap she served "just to be polite," but since that is physically impossible now, I just laughed it off.

The fact is that I am not a bit player in anyone's drama, but the star of my own show, so people better learn to either support me or get out of my way.

Thanks for your post. As always, it helped me face another facet of my journey.

Ciao,

Maria

Oh Maria, I think the older we get the "more freer we are" too!!!
It's not my job to make people happy, they have to do that themselves.
You have a great attitude, very smart of you to carry your muscle milk with you and just enjoying the company around you.

May you have a wonderful St. Paddy's day!

You're so right Debbie.
There is a poem about a woman growing older that really says it all, but I have not been able to locaate it.  Will post it as soon as I do.

Have a great St. Paddy's Day you too.
