Good morning Karen, Julia, George and all those to come,

Karen, it worries me that you don't sleep more than you do. Have you ever taken anything to help? I take temazapam every night or else when I get up to visit the bathroom I can't get back to sleep. Just a thought.

Two weeks of jury duty isn't bad. It's THREE MONTHS here!!  Just not as many people for the jury pools, I guess, but it's certainly a hardship for folks.
Gary sat for the CA State Bar Exam in June and didn't get results until Thanksgiving. It's a torturing time of life for everyone.

Speaking of Gary, he had hurt his back badly and I have a huge delimma. I'm supposed to take Tess to have her wisdom teeth out today and take care of her until someone can come relieve me. Poor Gary can hardly walk he's in so much pain. I really feel I need to be here, but I've promised Tess and my son can't get off work on Mondays. We'll work it out, but man, I feel guilty!

Ok, off to see what everyone is eating. See you later!

Back to work today after a wonderful weekend of celebrating Mom's 80th......well except for that little trip to the ER for gall bladder attack. LOL  Mom looked beautiful.  Her hairdresser surprised her by doing her makeup too at no charge.  She was grinning all day, but was sure tired by the end of the day.  With the exception of 3 great grandkids, all family members were there.  Dad enjoyed the day too.  They got to see people that they haven't seen for quite some time.  Mom still keeps in touch with her highschool friend, who lives in California.  She sent a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

I passed the test during and after the party....no cake or other food for me.  Not that I didn't want it BAD, but my willpower prevailed.  Of course the GB attack helped since I was afraid it would happen again.

Today will be another test.  We are having a pot luck luncheon at work to celebrate Social Worker's month.  There are things on the sign up sheet that I can have, but I'll take something "legal" just in case.  I'm taking mini meatballs with BBQ sauce.

While we were in Illinois enjoying 60 degree weather on Friday, we got 5" of snow here at home.  Glad we weren't here to "enjoy" it. HA!  It was in the 40s yesterday, so most of it is gone already.

I'm not quite sure how my parents truly feel about my surgery.  Initially, they were visibly upset.  Couldn't tell if that was because I didn't tell them, or if it was because of the fact that it was WLS.  But being the most loving, wonderful parents a person could ask for, they "seemed" ok with it after I answered questions and explained how many tests I had to have beforehand.  More than anything, Dad is obviously worried that something will go terribly wrong like it did with my cousin's wife.  He kept looking me in the eye and asking me how I felt.   Needless to say, they know nothing about my trip to the ER while we were there.  Fortunately, it happened when we were at the building decorating for the party, so they weren't there.  We had to stall them for an extra hour until I was finished at the ER so they're none the wiser.  Whew!  That would have put Dad over the edge.   Mom loved my jacket and asked me if she could have it when I can't wear it anymore. LOL  I told her there are several things she can have.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

Hi Karen and my OFF family:

After a weekend of yucky weather, it's bright and sunny today and we're back to spring again. It's already 47 degrees. I have an appointment with my psychologist this morning and then will meet with this guy about a freelance job on three books. Something to do, not a lot of money, but gets my foot in the door and maybe will lead to other things.

I tried to make my turkey rollups yesterday ... had the cream cheese, bacon and cheese all mushed up in the food processor and took out the turkey (I had two pounds of deli turkey) ... well, there were very few pieces usable, most were so paper thin that I couldn't spread the mixture on or just slivers. I was so angry. I had asked the deli person at Meijer to give me the thicker slices and I get all these little slivers and half slices that I can't do anything with. So now I have to buy more turkey ... I have all these little slivers and thin slices that I'll have to use for other things.

I had problems sleeping last night too. I was tired enough at 12:30 a.m. and laid down to sleep but my mind was spinning on something. So I got up and got some water (my mouth was really dry, too) and read my book. I'm reading a book called "Innocent Traitor" by Allison Weir ... it's about Lady Jane Grey, who became queen of England for a brief controversial period before Queen Mary (in the Tudor era). So now I'm out of the Henry II era and back in the Tudors. I really loved reading about Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine by Sharon Kay Penman ... I'm eager to read more of her books. I have two more ordered by her.

Don't know if I could do jury duty ... too opinionated and sitting for that long would be a pain. But one of the sports copy editors had to do it and she said she enjoyed it ... she was on a criminal trial jury and she is a "Law and Order" junkie. She says it's really nothing like the show.

Well, have a good day.

this new "job" sounds like a window- jump thru it!!!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.

Well, if we ever hook up ...  you're not that far and I'm not working ... I'll loan you the books. Very interesting. I want to know more about Eleanor ... didn't know she was on your "tree".

Hi Eileen:
Yes I guess we were in your neighborhood yesterday -- the shower started at 1:30 and we didn't leave to go home until almost 4 p.m.  By that time my foot was not feeling too good from hanging down all that time and we still had a 1 1/2 hr. drive home.  Had a great time at the shower, my granddaughter got lots of really nice things.   Her mom had WLS with Dr. Baker 5 yrs. ago I think and has maintained her 180 lb. weight loss.....she said she hasn't been back for a ckup in a couple yrs -- I told her she really needed to do that plus have her labs done.  She looks and feels great.

I love reading, and am working on some classics -- A Tale of Two Cities, Catcher in the Rye, Red Badge of Courage, and the Scarlet Letter.  Currently am reading Catcher in the Rye -- it's pretty good.

Good luck with the temp job -- hope it works into something permanent for you.

Good morning Karen and everyone on OFF,

It's supposed to rain but I'm not going to complain--not after the nice long weekend of sunny warm weather we had.  :)  I'm about to take off for a doctor's appt so this is just a quick update.  Ted and I spent some time outdoors getting our lawn ready, weeding, turning over the earth and so on.  We're putting down wild flowers and trying our luck with those.  We love flowers but the only thing we've ever had any success at growing has been weeds!  March Madness threw off my CBS TV schedule so I got to bed reallllly late, lol.  I'm off!  Have a marvelous Monday all!

Good morning Karen and OFF,

It's Monday morning and raining - lol - it's okay, though, I really made such progress over the weekend in the flower beds....even sprinkled several packs of seeds - hoping they'll grow -- I went a little nuts sprinkling seeds - lol - we need to weed/mulch along side the house, power wash and then paint the bottom of the house to clean it up, weed/mulch around the pool, and we'll be ahead of the game this spring - YAY!  Everything looks so fresh right now -- I love this time of year.

I hope you all have a great Monday.

Debbie
