Rowing, sailing, cooking and eating. What's on your plate today?
Good mornng one and all. Smooth waters here for me, which is a good thing for anyone. I'm going to start posting what I ate the day before instead of what I'm planning on eating for the day. I'm finding that things get changed around or I get busy and things don't always work out the way I want them to. Just like life, huh? It will be much more accurate, and honestly, more revealing as I don't always get back here to edit at the end of the day. Talk about accountability!!!
Here's yesterday:
latte, protein coffee
mini quiche, mini ww bagel
string cheese and 2 oz turkey kelbasa
latte
carb master yogurt and cottage cheese
small pork loin chop, wild and brown rice mix, broccoli
protein coffee
applesauce w/ 2 tbs Special K low fat granola
cals: 1095, fat: 28, carb: 96, fiber: 10 (not good!), pro: 112
Now, for today's recipe! I got to thinking about two that I posted earlier; meatloaf pizza and the crustless calzone. What if I combined the two? Hmmmm, the possibilities were endless! So, here's what I did. Made it yesterday for dinners this week since I have to work late two nights, so I'll let you know how it is. I did taste a corner when I took it out of the pan, and I think it could be a winner.
1 10 oz pkg frozen spinach, defrosted and squeezed dry
1 lb extra lean ground sirloin
1/3 unflavored breadcrumbs
2 eggs, beaten (or eggbeater equivilant)
1/2 c skim milk
1 c pasta sauce, divided
1 c low fat shredded Italian cheese blend
salt, pepper, oregano and basil to taste
assorted veggies for topping, like diced onion, mushrooms, bell pepper, whatever!
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Spray 9x13 cookie sheet with non stick spray
Mix the first 5 ingredients and seasonings together with 1/4 c pasta sauce. Spread evenly on cookie sheet. Top with remaining sauce, cheese and veggies. Bake for 25-30 minutes on the bottom rack of the oven. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before cutting. Cut into 8 slices. Each slice is:
cals: 194, fat: 7, carb: 10, protein: 22

Howdy captain...and fellow rowers...
Well I had a hitch in my git-a-long yesterday. Unexpected happenings.
Had to go to ER last night for my mother-in-law, a mini stroke and she's 87. All is well now.
So I had a handful of M&M's in the ER waiting room....okay I was stressing/comfort eating. Said what the hell am I doing and started drinking water. Sigh...I will always comfort eat. It's me. I get me and won't beat myself up about it.
Then went home, had 2 hotdogs wrapped up in a WW tortilla thingy. Then later it was on to the guacamole and a hand full of tostitos...I would have eaten more but my SD ate most of the gauc!!
So today: (it's another day...giggles)
B: Arnold Sandwich thins with 1 egg, 2 oz. of pork for my breakfast sandwich
S: Atkins shake with coffee
S: apple
L: Vegetarian chili
S: banana
D: don't know yet...probably left over pork roast with green beans.
S: SF fudge bar

Hi Deb,
Hope MIL is better today. Gosh, they become such a source of worry and concern, don't they? Makes me fee badly for them.
Glad you're not going to be too hard on yourself for the M&M's, chips and guac. Geeze....you're so diligent about your exercising and normally your menu is right on, I wouldn't stress either. You recognize your trouble spots and do what you can to avoid them or deal with them when they happen. What else can you do?
Take care!

Hi there MM,
Yes, I think if I'm truly going to be accountable for what I eat, it needs to be what I've eaten, not what I MIGHT eat!!! Those can be two entirely different things some days....lol!
Did you say you were at a stall? I think you might consider upping your calories a bit. You might be too low for being this far post op. Just a thought.

Just a quick hello. Just can not talk myself into keeping exact track of my food. Mysides I know me. . . .I lie! The exercise thread seems to be something I'm willing to do and I'm finding that afte I spend an hour in the gym I don't want to screw it up but overeating. . . and the scale is slowly dropping. Now to just keep it up while I'm away from home for 5 days. I made my pregnant daughter promise to walk with me every day. Normally I can't keep up with her, but with her "handicap" I should be able to! Susan, I do pirate your recipes even tho I don't write down my food. I think it goes back to those years of WW weekly food charts. Just hated that! And I lied then. Amazing. . . it does no good, but I still did it. Kind of like eating in the dark kitchen at night time. If no one sees you it shouldn't count and it for sure shouldn't show up around the hips!!

Pirate away, my friend, pirate away!
One thing that the journaling does for me is to make sure I'm getting what I need, not only to admit to eating what I want! For instance, today, so far (and it's 7:05 p.m.) I've only had 728 calories. Somehow I'm supposed to get in another 650, but damned if I know how, unless I don't go to bed until an hour before I need to get up in the morning!
Eating in the dark, like eating standing up, or food that's not on a plate, or that comes out of a bag.....none of it counts, right?
