Good morning from Chehalis Washington.

Had an absolutely beautiful drive over White Pass yesterday. Lots of fresh snow bending down the pine and cedar boughs. Sunshine on the snow and nice, clear plowed roads. A perfect combination. Lots of Spring Break skiers enjoying an end of the season ski.

I'm about out of battery charge so will plug in and see you later in the day. Did NOT get my walk in after we got here. Just got busy. Promise to do it today.

Good morning Karen....wow snow, I'm over snow; it's gonna be a beautiful day here in Michigan. Great for walking!!

I'm planning a 3 mile walk today during my lunch/break...going 3 times around the hospital. Maybe I might even get a bike ride in before I go to church at 7pm for services.
Later on when I get home I'll work on my free weights while I watch TV.

Hi Karen and Debbie,

Karen, I am sorry, I hate the snow.  We had a long cold winter.  I am hoping no more snow.  I don't even want to think of snow.

Debbie, I wish I had your energy!  I am not sure what spin class is.  What exactly do you do?

Peace
Mary

I am on my way.  What a ride it has been.

Didn't mean to misleed. The snow is just up at the top of White Pass which is over 4000 ft in altitude. It was gorgeous and the roads were fine. There will be snow up there until June but much less. On either side and lower it is spring!

Well, it isn't raining at the moment so I'm heading out the door. Erin works at home and won't be able to walk til later. I'll go again with her. I did some research on the "walk a mile, run a mile you burn the same amount of calories." It looks simple but not so. . . the time spent and the amount of miles covered is the same amount of calories but and it is a BUT bigger than mine used to me your metabolic rate is NOT the same. Running or walking fast like I do at the gym raises the metabolism more thence creating an "afterburn" affect that continues for hours so  that you burn more calories overthe next hours until you exercise again. So I'll continue walking as fast as I can at the gym which is about 3.6 miles per hour. Heading out the door. I'll check in later. It's just a bit after 9am here.

Wish I had something to report but I'm really trying to rest today.
The legs (mostly knees and calfs) are so swollen and sore I just want to do whatever I have to do to get the swelling down.  I know standing and walking around just makes the swelling worse so I'm going to focus on my recovery and resting .

Hope you enjoyed your walk....I'm a little jealous...lol

Mike drove along the route I walked this morning. It was just about exactly 4 miles! I started out down the hill from Erin's and made a big loop involving hiking back up the hill on the way home. Figured I'd have to stop several times coming up the hill but I didn't stop even once! Not saying that I was fast but I just kept going like that little engine.  . . I think I can, I think I can, I know I can! What a great feeling to be able to do that. Then came home and helped Erin get caught up with laundry and a bit of cleaning. And made dinner and played with the twins from 5pm to bedtime. Pretty full day. Mike and I were hoping to get over to the beach but there is supposed to be a big storm brewing with high winds, rain, snow in the mountains. High winds on this western side of Washington can mine downed evergreen trees across power lines, loss of power, trees across roads. . . So we probably won't go far. Plenty to do around here as it is.
