Monday Exercise Thread. . .
Goos morning exercise addicts!
At least that's a healthier addiction than most I have become involved with. I'd like to make it a "have to have" thing with me. Ruth, hope everyone was just busy this weekend and that I didn't "kill" the thread. Best intention are not good enough when I'm over here at Erin's. Yesterday was spent cooking, visiting, cleaninup up and yes eating. We had Josh's parents and brother and SIL up for dinner. Nice time had by all. Also had an inside easter egg hunt for H and C. They caught on very quick. We're heading for home in the morning. Back to part time work and hopefully fulltime spring. Can't wait to see what new flowers are available in the stores this week. Also back to the gym! I've actually missed it.

I have been walking a mile every morning. I have to build up stamina from sitting too much over the Winter. I just can not walk in the snow and slush out here. They never keep the roads clear and I can't stand the cold.
Going to try and walk farther every other day or every day. I would like to get up to a couple of miles a day.
I am not sure I can walkin this morning, it is raining right now. Hopefully I can get a walk in today. Have much running around to do.
Peace
I am on my way. What a ride it has been.

MaryMargaret,
I continue to be amazed at the fact that I can walk 4-6 miles. And this is on 2 replaced knees that my obesity for out long before time. Before WLS I had to stop and rest from the car to the portable I was teaching in and it was a matter of maybe 300 feet if that.
Sounds like we started out about the same. My BMI was 66 I believe. This summer will be glorious for you. I used to dread the hot weather. Now it doesn't bother me nearly as much. You're doing it a good way. Just add a bit of distance each day and you will be amzed within a month at how far you can go.
I think I'll home I'll come up with a route that includes some incline. Over here at my daughter's that is easy to do as it's all hills. I do better with a circular route that I don't repeat. It's easy to talk myself out of doing that second or third lap. If it's just one circle I don't have any choice but to finish even if I have to take a break. At the gym I do "cross country" or "variety" programs on the treadmill and eliptical. It keeps me from getting too bored. Congratulations on all that you have accomplished in 9 months. You've "given birth" to a new you!
I had surgery in Feb of 2005. In May of 2006 a completed in the Bloomsday Run/Walk in Spokane. It attracts thousands and I believe is around 6 miles. What a feeling to cross that finish line! The course is lined with bands, bellydancers, and crowds of "fans" cheering people on. it didn't matter that I was in the group with strollers and seniors. We had a great time.
You might one to sign up for some of the local fundraising walks to have a goal. A 3 or 5k will certainly be attainable for you by summer or fall.

I walked 2 miles yesterday during the course of the day and boy did my legs swell up so I'm going to try to walk around the house today BUT find the time get my legs up enough so they don't blow up again.
That's my plan for today
Have a great day!
Ruth
Have not exercised since last Monday due to my thyroidectomy on Tuesday, and I'm itching to get back. Doctor game me the go-ahead to do my 2-mile walk tomorrow and can't wait.
Have tried to stay active, but the Oxycontin kept me very drowsy. Switched to Tylenol yesterday and hope to give up the dope for good. I can't believe how people become addicted to that awful drug. Five days was long enough for me.
Will probably take a walk around the mall later today.
I walked for hours yesterday at the Mall of America with Kyleigh....we had a blast!!! Sore toe and all...had to wear sandals...UGH...not much support in those.
Today I will be heading out for my 3 mile walk as soon as I am done checking all the OFF posts from over the weekend!!
Have a wonderful day dear friend....love and hugs...connie d
