Heaven forbid we'd let any undergarments show, right? Not now, though

I graduated from high school in 1967 a couple of years before the whole women's movement really hit the fan. No pants in school but at games and after school events they were fine.  For Christmas about my sophomore year my sister in law asked me what I'd really like from them.  My answer was a pink cashmere sweater.  Picture this I'm sure it was quite a sight. The only saving grace was that I was 5'3" and about 120 lbs. . .  Pink cashmere sweater, pink STRETCH STIRRUP pants and. . . drum roll puhleeeesssse!  White go-go boots that zipped up the back.  I blush thinking about what I must have looked like. And I remember thinking I was "ALL THAT" and more!

Probably what I was trying for. . . . I didn't hear anyone snickering. . .which I can hardly believe.

Why oh WHY did our parents not take more pictures?????  Wouldn't our adult kids just love to see them?

No prom dress story.

But my favorite shirt I had was in 7th grade.  It was the first year of "shirt-jacs".  No tail, button tabs on both sides by the hips.  Pastel colors and white stripes, very narrow, all the same size.  It was made to be worn outside the pants.  I wore it to school and the policy was tucked in shirts.  My mother raised hell and I was able to wear it out of my pants whenever I wore it.  Sort of changed the school policy to if it had tails it had to be tucked in.

You rebel you!

How could you have tucked that shirt anyway? Some people!

I would have, but it was a new shirt (which I did not get many of in those days) and my mom said I would wear it the way it was meant to be worn.  I didn't argue with Mom.

In high school I wore jeans, t-shirts and looked like a tom boy most of the time. Nothing prissy about me in high school but I worked at the hospital as soon as I turned 16 was a hostess. Took meal trays to patients. Our uniform was black skirt, white top, gold vest and nursing shoes...along with a hair net of course!

I never went to prom, didn't want to spend the money and I was a size 20-24 during high school anyway and at that time the only place to buy large sizes was a store called Ruby's. All the clothes was geared to professional and older gals. Not young people.

Only was a bridesmaid once, at my younger sister's wedding. Mom made the dress, empire and I think I looked great...and I did! LOL
I was in several weddings...I was the wedding singer so I got out of spending money for dresses...thank goodness!
