It's Friday October 1st- What's New?
Happy Friday Julia and OFF family,
It's payday Friday for me! Wwwoohhoooooooo! and it's October 1st...wow, time is flying and Christmas will be here before we know it. My mother was right when she told me time will fly when you get older! LOL Mom's are always right. Oh...and Dad's too!
This weekend: planning on going to water aerobics in the AM and we have our bariatric support group at 1pm, so I will stay in town and visit one of my volunteers who is in the nursing home only for rehab...she is 80 and is amazing woman. One of my mentors. I kinda adopted her as being a mom to me. She is so smart, plays the keyboard and man can she boogie on that thing!
Singing at church Sunday both on the Praise Team and the choir. Then we will go visit my MIL, she is still hanging in there, has good days and bad days. Her body is giving out on her but her mind is sharp.
My litter of barn kitties are growing, I hold them everyday and cuddle them. Gotta get this momma cat fixed, she is so friendly and was a pet and would like to come into my house. This will be her last litter, hopefully the vet will give me a discount when I get her fixed. Momma cat doesn't attack my doggies anymore, she has adjusted and is a long hair cat and is satisfied in the barn for her shelter. But I think I will let her in the house this winter if it gets really cold outside. My volunteer said if I can't find homes for the kittens that she would take them to the rescue shelter that she volunteers at. They have a kitten room and adopt them all out and not kill them.
Julia...do you have a Goodwill near you? If you do they will loan you a wheelchair for free. Might be a good idea for your trip. Have a great time at Lake Tahoe!! I am happy to hear you are basking in your non-cancer state. That is just wonderful!!!!!!
Margo.....I am so happy you are finding YOU again....such a blessing. Hang in there. Glad you are enjoying life once again!!
Mary....I am with you....bring on the warm weather again. I have been freezing already!!! I have a girlfriend that was on that medication. She had awful memory lapses and did gain quite a bit of weight. I would think twice about taking that.
Carla...90cents for pants..brand name no less...you hit the jackpot!! Our thrift stores have junk!!!
Pat...Happy 16th Anniversary to your son and DIL. Glad the shots are working for your DIL. Also Happy 50th Anniversary to your brother and his wife!!!
Debbie....Glad you have someone who will take your kittens. Those Rescue Shelters are awesome!!
I can't remember who else I was going to comment to...I am getting old!! I wish you all a terrific day!
As for me no work today and I am so glad. I have errands to run but I don't even mind that. Other then I will be freezing!!
Prayers to so many in need.
Love and hugs to all....connie d
It's wet and gloomy here in my part of NJ as tropical storm Nicole moves on out.
I haven't been around all month. Julia, I'm so glad to hear that you don't have cancer but sorry to hear you're having so much difficulty and will be getting a wheelchair. I'm glad that it will help you, though, and wish you had it right now.
Classes are going well but keeping me very busy. I should be doing some homework now but have been missing OH and decided I could spare some time. I'm looking forward to some autumn weather coming in so I can shut the air off and open all the windows. It's been so muggy it was unbearable. The family's hanging in and we're basically same old same old.
Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!
Cassie

Just a quick drive by this morning, as I have lots going on still at work and tonight my youngest daughter is flying in for a weekend visit that she called me Tuesday about seeing what my weekend plans were and did I want company. Hell Yes!!! She is coming to surprise her brother and nephew because tomorrow we are having Vaughn's 5th birthday party, so she arrives at 7:30 this evening and leaves early Monday morning. . .
This morning I woke to a fridge on the fritz (2nd time with this 3 yo fridge, Fridgidaire is now on my no buy list) and slightly flooded basement. . . oh well, off to work I went and here I am writing to you instead of working, so I'd best get back to my job. . . need to buy a new fridge though, because I am not plunking down another $200 to fix what seems not to work for longer than a 2 year period as the freezer works but not the fridge part, thankfully I have a smaller back up in the basement. . .
Ok, off to work I go. . .
You all have a good day, sending happy thoughts your way and wishing you all the strength and peace you need to get through whatever it is you are dealing with.
Hugs, Laureen

Hi Julia and my OFF family:
Julia, I get the shots in the back and they don't hurt if you get conscious sedation before they do the shots. They actually help a lot. If you don't get the sedation, they do hurt ... a lot! Make sure they offer the sedation. I got the shots once without sedation because I didn't have a driver (you must have a driver, you can't drive after having sedation) and it was horrible. But the shots really do work.
I think it was Mary asking about Neurontin; I take it for the nerve damage in my back and the neuropathy from that damage in my foot (nondiabetic related ... never had diabetes). I only take it at night; it helps me sleep. I don't think it's made stupid; you'll have to ask other people. It does make sleepy, though. I take it about two hours before I want to sleep. It is among the many pain related meds I use. These are things I got from the pain doc. Miss my pain doc ... he was so helpful. I have to visit the one down here now that I have insurance.
It was payday here, or exchange day as I like to call it. Money is almost all gone ... rent, electric bill, cat supplies, food, birthday cards. The repair man is here after fixing my A/C (no bill for that) and he's putting in my shower massager that I bought awhile back. Juliette actually came up and greeted me this morning and when I came home from shopping. So we're making progress ... and she meowed a couple times, very quietly. I bought some catnip mist to spray on the scratching posts to get her interested in scratching those instead of my couch and the carpet. Hope we make progress there, too, so I don't have to get her declawed.
Well, that's my life. Work tonight again ... another exciting Football Friday. Yuck. Heard last night that the guy my boss wanted to hire to take over Monroe sports didn't take the job. So I'm stuck for awhile. At least Saturday shouldn't be so hectic; all the games are done early (except for Louisiana-Monroe, which plays in Hawaii and we won't get that game ... wouldn't it be nice to play in Hawaii?)
Well, aloha to that, and have a good day.
