TGIF - What's NEW?

Good Morning OFF!
Yep up early again today, but at least today there is heat in the house!  Up only because I went to bed early last night and Angus HAD to go outside NOW and eat NOW!  You know his needs are the most important in his life and thus in mine!  Daphne, the sweet will calmly wait until I get up, waggle and wiggle her way to the door and to the fold bowl with out a bark, Angus, the dork is loud and barky!
Anyway, I came home to heat last night!  I believe there may be a different furnace, not entirely sure, I just know it's warmer!
Our installer for the computerized physician order entry portion of the new system finished with us yesterday so now the work begins in earnest.  I'm glad to get busy and just hope I can traverse these new worlds in acceptable fashion!  (actually I want to exceed and just hope I can! LOL)
So what's new with you?

Good  Morning Debbie, OFF,

Sounds like you Angus and Daphne have transisted nicely and I know well the feeling of wanting to exceed, as I am that way too, however, the party I work for continues to make me feel incompetent and like I will never measure up, hard to be where I am, but continuing to seek other opportunties and maybe one day soon I will find a way to make a dream realized

I, too had a heating issue yesterday, but the service contract I recently signed up for with my gas provider came in handy, it was a leak and switch problem, good as new now,

My day consists of working, errands after work and then home to spend time with Roxie, an AA meeting and that about sums up my day.

Wishing you peace and strength this and every day!

Laureen

Good Morning Debbie and Laureen and all to follow,

Glad you have heat Debbie!

Laureen, I'm sorry your job is treating you like that, well the people I mean. We spend so many of our hours there I know how it can really deplete you when you work for or with people that are not people you would normally even pick to be around let alone spend soooo much time with and have to interact with on a daily basis. Positive energy and prayers for you to find that opportunity to change jobs to a job that is just right for you.

Good News! Mom was transferred to the Care Center rehab that my dad is at now. They are not in the same room, which I think is just fine for my mom, but they are in the same facility and it will be good for them and really good for my sister and I. I am headed over before work to look for some clothes and other stuff mom wants. If any of you have seen my posts that mentioned HOARDING, I just want to say, Good luck to me in finding what she wants in that little apt packed to the gills with stuff. My mom has clothes up the ying yang...

Take care all!
Cheryl

Good mornin' ya'll.
Let the games begin! Between now and Jan. 24th, I have a CT scan, a colonoscopy and a hip replacement. Plus I have to fit all the pre proceedure lab work, pick up and drink the gunk for different proceedures. Our DIL will have to take us for the colonoscopies and wait for us and drive us home. She will have to take me for my new hip. But just drop me and someone come to get me 2 days later. Our son was supposed to be done with the review board by the 20th, but new evidence was found and a continuance was given. He is sorta glad, cause he hates to see anyone lose rank, or even their job, so they need be as accurate and fair as they can, but this is wearing on him!
Somewhere in there I need a haircut and a pedicure. Gotta get the priorities in line, ya know!
We haven't had snow or freezing rain since Monday. But we still have frozen snow all over our back yard. Seems strange to see it, since we very seldom have snow. But the roads are clear, and everyone is back to work. That is a very good thing.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Hi Carolyn....want to wish you good luck with all your procedures...DH and I have both had the colonoscopy...uncomfortable for sure but doable ^_^  ?DH had hip replacement way back in 2004...just be sure to take recovery slow and steady...he just went thru full knee replacement surgery the week before Thanksgiving...recovering well from that also.  Drive careful for sure!  I read before that you have an hour commute each way...that can get old pretty quickly :-(
Keeping you in my prayers!

Good morning Debbie and OFF family, Happy Friday! I love Fridays! Actually I love the weekend better.

Our Team building belated Christmas get together at the Olive Garden was nice. I had the soup and salad. Busy place! The drive home was dicey, roads started getting slick. The ride into work this morning wasn't bad at all. I really can't complain about our snow this year.

2 of our grandchildren will be baptized on Sunday. So it's a family get together for sure! I sure do enjoy being a grandma, kids do keep you young (and tired sometimes LOL)

Our cat Charlie has recovered well from surgery, swallowed a sewing needle poor baby...and I don't sew, hubby left a needed on an end table after getting slivers out of his hand, who knew a cat would swallow a needle. We got her fixed at the same time. Charlie jumped up on my lap this morning so I know she is feeling much better. Yep, I love my fur-babies.

Happy fun weekend to us all. Hugs Debbie

Cats will swallow anything. My cat Cinnamon (now deceased many years; he died in 2003) swallowed a metal bracket from a stereo stand ... he had to pry it off the stand actually to swallow it. I thought he was going to die, didn't know what the problem was. He was just a year old at the time. The vet said it could be a kidney problem, it could be feline leukemia ... it could be an obstruction ...

So he took x-rays and did blood work and voila, found the bracket on the x-rays ... it looked like an upside down M on the films. My friend Wally, who had gotten the cats from (Cinnamon and his brother Kittle) said, "Don't you know we brand our cats?" Wally's last name was Mundstock, hence the "M".

The vet thought this was such an interesting case he wanted to keep the bracket to show people just what animals would eat. He lived next to me in Montana ... he showed it to me later that afternoon. Cinnamon recovered and lived to the ripe old age of 19, moving with me from Montana to South Dakota, Georgia and finally Michigan.

Eileen, I will be extra careful about things lying around, had no idea cats eat stuff like this!
Thanks for sharing.
I hope Charlie lives a long time, she is special.

Not sure if this will post under the "cats will eat anything" section of this thread, but your story reminded me of my long-gone cat Jake, who we got in 1983.  In the 80s, the LA Times came with an actual cotton string around it, and Jake liked to play with the string.  One day, when Jake was about a year old, I noticed about an inch of string sticking out from his butt!  I tried very gently to tug on it, but that made Jake jump (I would too!), so we rushed him to the vet, who said cats often swallow string and yarn, and that it can be very dangerous.  It sometimes gets wound through the intestines and requires surgery to remove.  But, he said, sometimes it moves through in a bunch, and massaging the lower body can cause the cat to expel it, so he proceeded to very vigorously push and massage on poor Jake's belly, who of course had no idea what was going on, but didn't like it!  Lo and behold, eventually out came the whole wad of string.  Thank God!  Jake went with my husband when we divorced in 1986, and his sister Emmy went with me, and a few years later my ex reported that Jake had disappeared.  Coyote, I assume, sad to say.
