Tuesday 1/18/2011 Whats NEW?
How's everyone today? I'm up early this morning to let Angus out and give the dogs some food. We have a chilly wind blowing today in the North East Kingdom! I don't believe it got up past 10 yesterday here. I do know it was -6 when I went to work and -4 when I got home at about 6:15 pm! BRRRRR
I finished a knitted project I was working on yesterday, a "neck gator". It is pretty easy to make and looks kind of cute. Instead of wearing a scarf one can put this on under their coat and keep neck shoulders a bit warmer. It can be made with a mock turtle neck or a turtle neck.
Did Zumba again last night. Well, I say I did Zumba, but actually I can't do a whole lot of it. Knees, arms, feet get sore and I get tired quickly but I can make it thru the "abs" portion and a bit of the cardio. Am not fond of it however. I enjoy the company better. I'm hoping the pool at IROC is fixed today or tomorrow so I can hit that. I seem to do better in the therapy pool and doing exercises there.
Well, that's it for me, whats up with you?
Another storm, this one the dangerous variety of wintery mix, my car was encapsulated in ice this morning and as I write this, it is being thawed out. for my commute, which today is definitely going to take the better part of an hour, I will take my time and get there safely. . .
Otherwise, I have concerns about my furfaced baby, as she has very itchy skin condition and I had it under control until recently, through diet, except unknown to me, my newer roommate did not realize that he was contributing to her problem by sharing food with her, because she looks up at you with those beautiful begging brown eyes and it makes it so hard to resist, since then she got very itchy, so I know she can't have chicken or beef for sure. . . She has a neck wound from scratching there, I stop her every chance I get, but, she will actually go outdoors or try to hide from me to scratch. . . last night was awful, as she kept waking me up to be rubbed, I think rubbing her makes her feel better and last night I gave her an oatmeal shower, so the vet is coming tonight and I gave her benadryl and left strict instructions for my roommate who works from home most of the time to make sure he keeps an eye on her and does not allow her to keep at it.
Oh well, I'd better get on the road. . .
Have a great day.
Peace and strength to all in need. . . Laureen

Laureen, our Baxter had a scratching problem and the vet put him on a steriod and benedryl combo and it helped a LOT. Might give it a try?
Okay, day six post op and as far as I can tell I'm going to live. Wow..... this sure isn't surgery for wimps, that's all I can say. I'm glad no one told me what to expect or I might have backed out.
Gary went back to work today and it's already too quiet here. I'm going to be good and spend the day watching movies and knitting. Trying really hard to eat what I should, but it's not easy.
Hope everyone has a great day. I'm going over to the SS Neversink and see what the cruise director has is store for today.
Later, Dudettes!
Susan
Glad to see your recovery is progressing without any hitches and PS is definitely not for wimps, though we have a gal on our PA board, who has had quite a number of procedures and well she seems to sail through like it is a tooth cleaning. . .
Be well and do only what you need to and let yourself heal. . .
Hugs, Laureen

Hope Roxie will be OK. Be careful on the road.
Whew! tough drive in this AM on 131...had a car go off into the ditch just in front of me, she was passing a semi, got back into the other icy lane and lost it. I'm still shaking! Yikes!
It's suppose to continue to get worse later so it's home for me and work out on my gazelle and total gym with hubby. I didn't make it to spin class after work yesterday cuz the roads were getting icy. Okay I am a wimpy when it comes to winter icy driving.
Nothing new with me, today I will take the stairs for exercise up from the ground floor to the 8th floor...my own stairmaster at work! LOL
Take care everyone, prayers for those in need. Hugs Debbie
we missed the ice storm here - whew - very glad for that. I hate driving on really slick roads even though I live only 6 minutes from work. I used to live 30 minutes away and driving into work on roads in farming areas was treacherous. The wind would whip across the roads and either blow snow or make the roads very slippery. By the time that I got to work, I was a mess.
A bit of sad family news. My brother who is a young, strong 72 was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. He was beginning to show some very mild symptoms and ended up in hospital for tests. Alzheimer's was confirmed and we are all in mourning as we know that we are losing our very bright brother. We lost one of our sisters a year and a half ago, so this is another blow to our family of what once was five siblings.
Sorry - didn't mean to get maudlin.
I'm off to teach in a little while. It's a very busy semester, but the students seem to be bright and ready to work, so I'm up for it.
Keep safe everyone and have a great day.
Wishing you well, Grammylew, in your surgery and to Bev, prayers going your way. Good thoughts for everyone else.
