Important or Urgent
Okay folks I had to post this one from my Eating Coach! Yesterday going to the Bathroom was URGENT! LOL...read this it will put things into perspective won't it? Hugs Deb
Ever notice that the urgent tends to get done -- independent of whether or not the activity is actually important? Important, on the other hand, gets kicked to the side...for the noisier more urgent matters.
We're not good at figuring out what is important for us in the long term.
Controlling blood sugar? Important. Eating at another fast food restaurant because you're hungry right now? Urgent.
Getting another set of stairs in? Important. Getting to another meeting on time? Urgent.
Learning to distinguish emotional eating from physical hunger? Important. Enjoying your meal because you had a stressful day? Urgent.
We always get our true priorities accomplished. Is what you did yesterday the important stuff -- or the urgent???

I like this, Debbie. Hope you don't mind, but I copied it to post to the Calif forum...this is great thought to ponder! I have a similar perspective: want vs need ;-) When it comes to spending money: Is it a case of 'I want it' or 'I need it'....9 times out of 10, I walk away IF I remember to ask the question LOL
Keep these coming!!

That's fine Nancy, feel free to copy and paste anything that helps you and your buddies.
I also have the want vs need question. I use that want vs need a lot with my mindful eating...
Do I really want this and is it worth the calories? It's so easy here at work to walk into a break room and see the day old donuts or sweets...something that someone else brought in from their home so they won't eat it. When I end up thinking that way, I tell myself, heck no I don't want their old stuff so they can stay slim....I think that way and I can walk away.
...now cookies...I'm a cookie monster! Gotta stay away from those darn cookies! LOL
