What's Happening on Thursday?

Hi Monica,
Congrats on your sobriety.  Do you participate in AA?  I have to get back to meetings now that I am more mobile.

Doc took the stitches out today, and that alleviates a great deal of the pain.  But, he said my pain is normal.  The surgery involved breaking bones, taking part out, and putting in a pin.  Sucks, but if I can wear shoes and not have pain from the toes being misshapen, I will be happy.

I am kinda glad my dog is one that does not need grooming.  He is a Shiba Inu, and his coat is similar to that of a German Shepherd, only orange.  Though it is shedding time, and he will need daily brushing now.  He gets a thick undercoat, similar to that of the Huskie.  He is related to the Aikida.  I am sure I spelled that one wrong.

Hugs,
Trish

When I was an insulin dependent diabetic I learned to always wear shoes, never never go bare foot. One day I walked from my bedroom to the bath, maybe 8-9 steps without my shoes or slippers. Stepped on the metal bar b/w bathroom floor and hallway and poof, I got a hammertoe on my left foot 2nd toe. Oh the pain, couldn't believe it. Saw the podiatrist, had PT, x-ray, wanted to break it and fix it and I said no. Hubby had ten hammertoes from wearing too small shoes growing up, Army almost didn't take him and he got his first 10% disability from VA for those toes. I have little feeling in the first 3 toes in my left foot due to this one hammertoe. I found that Croc's are the shoe for me. I have 4 pairs and my orthotic fit in them. The toe likes these shoes. The other day however I put on some thong cheap shoes and scrapped the top of the toe, pain and a sore. Thank goodness for liquid band-aid, healing. A Stupid Monica Trick. Glad the stitches are out and it feels better. No I don't go to AA, but use my Alonon books to work the program.

I wear Birkenstocks, and even with their big toebox, I could not avoid getting an infected corn on the one toe.

Good for you for staying sober with  the Alanon books.  The program is the 12 steps, and I know Alanon uses the same steps.  I need the meetings and a sponsor to guide me through the steps.  I am a tough nut to crack.

Hugs,
Trish

Good morning Trish and OFF family,

Happy Thursday and it's a whole new day. Stepping onward and upward and never looking back.
Well I went to the gym last night after work. I did the spin class and Karen Sue who is the spin instructor I crowned her "Mistress of Satan" in the spin class group for the instructors. She had a knee pain so walked around the class correcting posture and how your adjustments were on your bike. I like that a lot along with her pushing you through out the class. What a sense of accomplishment when I was done, my legs felt like rubber.

Okay now for the weird thing...I had intense "dry heaves" after eating half of hamburger when I got home...sigh...somethings going on but I'll stay on top of it. Yep, it was a hard workout and I have yet got back into my more intense workouts at the gym due to my surgery in July. I have to keep trying...why? Because really I love to exercise, I love that feeling especially when your endorphins kick it...a natural high!!

So today I will again just go back into the warm water therapy pool and work out with weights, walking lunges, sit-ups, jumping jacks, torpedo jumps and more. I do a great workout by myself in the pool and sometimes people ask to join me and of course the more the merrier.
I'm taking my vitamins as I'm typing this, I'm not hungry at all this morning, my pouch is grouchy so it will be an EAS protein shake for me this morning just so I can get something in. I'm pretty sure by this afternoon "Herman, my pouch" will be more relaxed and I can eat at lunchtime.

Take care and sending hugs and prayers for those in need. Debbie

Good mornin' ya'll.
Trish, I hope the doc can get your toes feeling better. Jan, getting rid of "stuff" isn't easy, I know. When we moved to NC we didn't bring any furniture or a lot of other stuff. We sold nearly the entire house and barn full of stuff. We had been there for 23 years.
When my parents moved into a 5th wheel for their new snowbird life they asked us girls if there was anything we would like. We lived in HI at the time and I couldn't think of anything I really wanted! They sold a lot of the furnishings with the house. Later, I realized there were things I would liked to have had. Like Mom's hope chest. Luckily my cousin got that, so it is still in the family. But if I had been close enough to walk through the house, I would have found many things I would have liked.
Our DIL has been having some health issues. She has gone through 2 MRIs, many other tests and lots of different meds and it
still isn't clear what her problem is. Yesterday when she got home from work there was a message on the phone from her doc, telling her to call today to discuss results of the latest tests. I hope they figure it out soon. We love her dearly and are very worried about her.
Our son says if the govt. isn't gonna pay him, he's not going to work. Or perhaps he should go tell his CO he'll look for a job where his employers can afford to pay him. He's joking, of course, but there are a lot of folks out there with mortgages to pay! I foresee the possability of Mom and Dad needing to help out. Thank God, we can afford it.
Speaking of which, between fed and state our daughter had to pony up $125,000 in taxes this year!! Yikes.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

Morning Trish, OFFr's

Ditto on what I said to you on the PA forum. . .

My day consists of working, lunch today will be spent with a co-worker friend, she is going to show me where the gym is, so I can go out a couple of times a week at lunch or before work, as that component is seriously something I need to be doing more of in order to get the scale moving in the right direction and we will have lunch on the riverfront here in Delaware, as the gym is somewhere close to it.  I am working until 6 tonight, then meeting up with my friend Owen and attending our homegroup AA meeting, after which I will pour myself into my bed and sleep (lol).

You all have a wonderful day.

Wishing you Peace and Strength, Laureen

My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . .  It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . .  Laureen

Hi Everyone, Not much sleeping goes on in this forum. I have to have sleep or I get grumpy. It is typical Nebraska spring weather. Cold one day and nice the next. My grandson will be having his eagle ceremony soon. It is hard to believe he is graduating high school and going to college. They grow up so fast. Nothing much else going on.
I had blood work drawn and I am diabetic again. I was able to stay off of meds for 9 years. My pancreas is wearing out. What a bummer. I dread the whole thing with checking blood sugars and taking injections. Oh well. I can't do anything about it. Sorry to rant and rave.

Have a great weekend everyone.  Mona

Good morning everyone,

Yesterday I had the best day! I just had this almost euphoric feeling of well-being all afternoon. Found myself smiling for no reason. Just happy, happy, happy all day.

This morning I awoke with a headache. Tried to eat some breakfast and felt almost nauseous. What is going on?

Went and had my bloodwork done early this morning. Dr. Garth ordered the bloodwork to make sure I'm getting all the right supplements in the right amounts. Should hear back next week. I am taking my supplements pretty well everyday and on time now. I've finally gotten the routine down. So hopefully I'll have a good report.

Good news is that my scale moved down a pound today! It finally caught up with the doctor's scale on Monday, and now my home scale shows a loss of 33 pounds, too. And today I'm in a pair of size XL knit pants. Of course they're stretchy and very forgiving, but they are XL, not 2X and not 3x! Little victories!

I think I've got to go lie down again for awhile. My head feels all woozy this morning. Maybe a short nap will help me wake up feeling better.

Trish, hope your toes get better soon! Do you mind if I friend you on FB? And Monica, too? I am Vickie Gibson Poe.

Monica, I'm so sorry your husband is having so many problems with the VA and his medications! I pray that this go 'round will be much shorter than the last one!
