Resistance: Mindful Eaters
No excuses, just do the work...easier said then done but I'm working on it. It's the last day of my weight loss challenge at work, our team didn't win but we really did win! Lost some weight and will continue to do Mindful Eating. Hugs Debbie
Our enemy is not lack of preparation; it’s not the difficulty of the project, or the state of the marketplace or the emptiness of our bank account. The enemy is resistance. The enemy is our chattering brain, which, if we give it so much as a nanosecond, will start producing excuses, alibis, transparent self-excuses, alibis, transparent self-justifications and a million reasons why he can’t/shouldn’t/won’t do what we know we need to do.
Sound familiar?

Dear Deb,
Steven Pressfield could have been reading my mind! For soooo many years [and I am now 64] I could not figure out why my jobs kept tanking after a few years. I was totally in the dark about what was going wrong. I am now realizing that it is within ME. Resistance, procrastination, a chattering brain--all those descriptions fit me. I never led a disciplined mental life--was not taught it by example and did not pick it up on my own. Only now through recovery and sharing with others in recovery am I starting to understand the workings of my mind. I have a disease-it is cunning, baffling and powerful. I can seek recovery one day at at time, and sometimes those days can be very difficult. It IS easier said than done, but just for today I am trying to DO IT.
Thanks for a great share.

Hugs Judy G....that is all we can do...take it one day at a time or even one minute at a time. It depends on us, what is going on in our lives. Reaching for food is something I do for stress, comfort, rewarding myself and I too have a "chattering brain"!
Some foods that call to me that are in my house I get rid of ASAP.
Hubby bought 3 bags of Easter Candy on Friday. Thank goodness he ate most of it last night while watching TV.
My dog Jake got into the Easter basket of candy that hubby left on the couch. He ate 3 chocolate almond kisses before I caught the little bugger. He spit out the almond on each candy. Jake apparently knows what he likes in candy and didn't even bother the jelly beans and malted milk balls. He's okay, dogs are not suppose to have chocolate. Bad doggie!
I'm going to admit when I was younger I couldn't wait to be an adult...I could eat what ever I wanted and adults weren't picked on with weight. Of course I was wrong. Well the teasing was gone as an adult but then you got the health problems cropping up. So for me, I will always have to be practicing Mindful Eating, journaling and reaching for Protein first. I have to fight this war on food everyday. Is it worth it in the end? Yes, I feel so much better being a "normal weight". My back feels better and yep, the vanity hits in there too...I look better in clothes!
Stay strong Judy G!! Today you are a success...You are trying to DO IT!!! Hugs Debbie

Thanks for reminding me to be mindful Debbiejean. A week+ of PMS and Passover == way too much chocolate and other goodies along with endless eating. But this was my first "vacation" from food. Back on track today, have recorded the next four days worth of meals which, except for dinners, are all packed and in the fridge ready to take to work. It feels good to get back on track. Now time to shed those extra 5 pounds.

Way to go Jan! Wow you are doing great thinking a head of the game with your meals!
I too went and bought some WW frozen dinners for my lunches, they are perfect and love the taste of them, much better than Lean Cusine.
It's all good! You are back on track and those 5 pounds will go away soon. Whhooooo!!
