A new kid in town
Needless to say, my head is spinning. I am hoping to find friends here. My state's forum is not very active, although I did find one gal to connect with who had the same Dr. She's very sweet, has been very successful herself with her weight loss and has been very helpful with tips for things to take to the hospital with me. She's younger though, and surely doesn't have the issues of bad knees and difficulty exercising that comes along with it.
So, girls.... anybody wanna be my buddy?
Kathy
Welcome Kathy I believe people find this forum when it's the right time for them. Jump in and become actove. One can never have too many friends! There's a daily "What's New?" thread that is a great place to start. Who ever is up after midnight anywhere in the country gets it started each day.Share as much or as little as you feel like.

You post here and you will connect I tell you. All support, no judgment. We understand about the difficulty of exercising due to pain, bad knees and hips. But we also know we do have to exercise. We compensate but we get the job done. Baby-steps.
Water therapy pool right now is my best friend but I also walk every day and I love riding my bike. I admire joggers and runners but my body does not and I know that.
May you have a speedy recovery but be kind to yourself. After you have the surgery you may go through a period of "why did I do this" or buyer's remorse. It's normal. Just remember to walk and sip, sip and sip some more. Keep posting and welcome! Debbiejean
When I first found out I actually had to leave work and go home to try and calms my emotions. I was excited, scared, nervous, overjoyed....all of it rolled in to one big bundle. I still find it all surreal and find it hard to imagine myself anything other than overweight but I am so ready to get my life on track and learn to live it again instead of being an observer. Best of luck to you on your journey and keep us posted.

Welcome to OFF, wishing you all the best on your upcoming surgery and all that comes from learning to live post-WLS. It is not easy in the weeks post-WLS, but over a short time, usually the benefits outweigh those early days when you don't know how you are ever going to get in all your protein and liquids.
You are in for the ride of your life, so strap in and come to visit with us here and if you have access to a local support group, get involved, as people who participate in support have an 80% higher success rate long-term.
Best wishes, Laureen
My Mantra is that I do not determine my success by the number hanging in my closet, nor will I let the scale determine that success either. . . It is through trial and error I will continue to grow and succeed. . . Laureen

Welcome to our little corner of the OH universe. There is plenty of support to be found on here, many veterans, some of us don't have as much time to post as we used to, but we still check in from time to time. Life post-WLS becomes very rich with living life and that is what you can look forward to!!!
Wishing you the best of all things and a great big Happy Birthday, what a gift you are getting come the 27th!
