Connie, I am so sorry to hear about your accident. Ouch, double, triple ouch. My ankle still really hurts during the night. Can't imagine the pain you must be in. You take care and let others give you some tender loving care. Hugs,

Karen C

Hello Karen. Sorry your ankle is still causing you pain especially at night.
I will be fine....glad it is only bruises!!

Grace has plenty of fun things to do. We made sure of that. Her kitchen, dolls and cradle and such are now in the living-room. She can play that for hours. She is a good nurse too!!!

Thanks for caring.....hugs....connie d

Hi Connie
Man when you tumble you tumble :)
I hate it when something like that takes a toll on me ..   when we were young we could just get up and start running again.. :)
On the bone loss,  I had a wee bit but they didnt suggest the IV therapy for the calcium ,,,is is calcium isnt it ? I have heard of it , THe lady I work with does it with no problems .
Do you take the Calcium citrate with D daily to get your calcium in and eat non fat yogarts?
I take 1200 mil of the Calcium Citrate everyday and eat 2-4 50 cal cups of that nonfat yogart everyday .  I freeze it and it tastes just like icecream   ..very good .  My Dr told me to do this but that calcium hurts my tummy too sometimes .
SO sorry your under the weather girl ..
Hugs

Hello Shirley......thanks for the reply. I hate stairs and I know better then to hurry down them...my fault!!

I will be okay. Just miserable for a bit. My nurse Grace is taking care of me. We made sure she has plenty of fun things to do to keep her busy. She is a very good girl.

Yes, I take 1500 Calcium Citrate a day. I am so burned out of yogurt right now but, thanks for the idea. I am taking a break from it for awhile. I will try it frozen one of these days. I just stocked up on more cottage cheese!!

Hugs....connie d

Poor Connie,

Bruises hurt but better than breaks. I read about the infusion which sounds easier than the side effects of Boniva type pills. Read about it, ask your doctor questions, but consider that this might be a good option.

Lay down and rest with a little one to care for? Difficult indeed. I'm sure you will get creative. Just do the minimum if you can.

Hugs and more hugs

Hi Annette.....I am going to go ahead with the infusion....I don't want anymore bone loss. The doctor said I may feel like I have the flu for a couple days after the infusion...I can deal with that.

Grace has plenty of things set up in the living-room to keep her entertained. She will be my nurse too. At least at her age she can keep herself entertained some. We can always play Barbies on the couch!!

Thanks for caring.....hugs...connie d

Hugs Connie,
Yes a lot of bariatric patients have to have the IV meds for bone issues.
Rest and try to take it easy, yes I know we can say it but do we really do it? Life just keeps happening and we don't take time for us....and the world keeps turning!
Prayers being said for your right now my friend! Debbie

Just reading this made me feel ouchy. Hope you just can rest up. This is why I have a cleaning lady. She even changes the sheets for me.

I have heard of the infusions and read about them. Sounds like a good deal.

I too take 1500 mg of calcium citrate plus magnesium citrate three times a day, plus 2000 units of Vit D ... I never miss my vitamins. I must malabsorb something fierce! But my bone scans have been good. Other people have mentioned yogurt and cottage cheese ... I just like good ol' cheese. I eat a lot of it. I add it in everything. Also, ricotta cheese is good ... I like it better than cottage cheese. I used to do a Weigh****chers recipe of ricotta cheese with a little cinnamon and some fake sugar (back then it was nutrasweet, now it could be splenda), on an English Muffin, topped with a slice of pineapple, put it under the broiler ... it was yummy. I know you can't handle bread, but I got to like it with just the ricotta cheese and pineapple.

Take care of yourself. Let your daughter and kids wait on you for a change.
