THURSDAY ,,,,time to get up :)
Good morning all.
Depending on the day, I may do a quick check in here then scoot. Some days I can take a couple of minutes and respond to several people, other days I can't remember my own name.
Yes indeedy - let's share some blessings. We may have to dig deep to find them but we all have at least one.
1. My brother called to let me know his tomatoes are ripe and he's ready to share.
2. Two of my very good friends have moved to Arizona. That's not the good part. They get together once a week for lunch so neither feels so lonely. Before the move they had never met. Now they have a connection and include me through more frequent phone calls.
3. It is peaceful in my house. The animals are ALL asleep. All I can hear is a cow mooing in a far off field and the birds chirping.
Take care and enjoy life.

Shirley and all others on OFF,
I'll get straight to the blessings:
1) I get to pick up my new apnea machine today
2) My new glasses are in so I will pick them up today
3) I get my cortisone shot in my knee today also.
4) I'm leaving for Indiana in 5 days.
5) I'm finally sleeping well (I slept 8 hours last night. It felt soooo good.)
Gee, that's about it for me. No bad news today. Life is good. I am happy. Hugs to all, Mag

Hi Shirley and my OFF family:
I am up earlier than I want to be ... but then I went to bed earlier than I expected. I had a busy afternoon yesterday and here's why:
I bought a new car
. It's a red Hyundai Accent hatchback. I got a letter in the mail over the weekend about a program for those recently discharged from bankruptcy. So I decided to check it out. I did some research online about Hyundais ... my friend Mary Kay has a Hyundai Sante Fe and she loves it. They have one of the best and longest warranty programs. The Accent is like the Honda Fit ... great gas mileage (40 mph on the highway, 30 city). It's a cute little car. And it's red ... all the cars I've ever had have been gray, silver, brown, beige, so this is a huge change. I'll take a photo and post later. I left to go to the dealer at 2 p.m. and didn't really think I'd come home with a car, but there you go ... Came home at 5:30 p.m. with a new car. Haven't had a new car since 1996 (and that was slightly used, had 400 miles on it)
This is loaded ... has a/c, cruise control, AM/FM/Satellite radio, CD player ... this is all standard. Very nice looking and quiet car.
Shirley, I agree with you about going to work even when you're sick. My dad taught us to "play with pain," so to speak. He had a physical job, yet he would go to work with a broken toe (one thing I remember well). He was always in pain from his bad hips. Yet, I see these young people at work calling in sick on weekends, when we are the busiest. You just don't do that at a newspaper. Jobs are too precious to squander.
As for my blessings:
1. My cat Juliette is No. 1
2. The fact that I have a job and can work.
3. Good friends wherever I find them.
4. My family, especially my brother Gary.
5. Good books
6. The White Sox are playing well at last.
Well, I've rambled on enough here. Have a good day.

We had 2 Hyundai's and loved them both. Enjoy your new ride. How very nice for you Eileen, I am thrilled for you.
Many months ago, my SIL Mary Beth started posting what she was grateful for each day. I adopted this into my life and each day post on FB what I am grateful for. Makes it nice for me to declare how good it is to value aspects of my life that I used to take for granted. Nice to see blessings declared here....so often we spew the ugly stuff that surrounds us and we forget to shout and share the wonder of life we have.
Happy hugs and driving.

Yes, you're right about what's good in our lives. I complain enough about my job, and it's not the dream job I had in Grand Rapids ****il the final three months there) ... but it is a job, and in the newspaper business, that's rare. And it's gotten more tolerable lately ... don't know if that's me, my attitude, or as I've said it, better drugs (I should've said I'm grateful for 60 mg Cymbalta ... it has made the pain more tolerable, too), my boss's attitude (maybe she got better drugs, too) or I just regained my skills.
2010 was a bear of a year. 2011 didn't start out much better, what with me breaking a tooth. But little by little, it's getting better.

Good Morning (just barely) Shirley, OFFr Friends,
It certainly was different times we were raised in, having a job meant responsibility and showing up for that and employers would not tolerate what is tolerated today. However, I am someone who through the years has learned to navigate the waters to the point that I am responsible to show up on time and be there as needed, but there have been occasions where I needed a "mental health" day off, but within taking a day off for myself, I would never do so if it were to inconvenience anyone, example being, I now work in a 4 girl office, so taking time off has to be done iin such a way as to not burden any of them, since I work the front desk, as well as secretarial duties, they have to cover my desk and so I would not want to take a day when I know they have a lot going on with their own attorneys, it's about consideration and we all work with those principles here. . . oh well, I can only change me and sometimes I just need to accept that the world is changing faster and faster and I can't change it.
Well here I am at work, morning started early, got to watch a nice lightening show on my way to the gym, got to the gym, 5 minutes into my workout, the skies opened up and it poured so much that you could hear it hitting the roof of the gym, but by the time I had showered and dressed it was over, yay!!!
I understand how Pat felt when her post was overlooked and I felt similarly a time or two recently, but hey, what I realize is we all have busy lives, we pop in and then get back to our lives, so I try to remember that when my feelings are slighted because I don't feel heard here. I know that if I need someone, I can usually PM them and get what I want. Anyway, enough said. . .
Wishing you all the best day possible and for those with serious life challenges, I send wishes for peace and strength to help ease you through those challenges.
Hugs, Laureen

Just popping in to say hi....still feel like crap....worst flu like symptoms I have ever felt. My head just throbs and I can't even wiggle my toes it hurts so bad.. Back to lay down now. Glad Nic was here with Grace until noon. This has been an awful week. I definitely canceled my plans to drive to MN tomorrow. Thanks again for letting me whine.
Wish you all the best....prayers for those in need.
