thank you for the encouragment ! I am getting more excited everyday and working hard on postive self talk...that part is not easy..but I know it is what I need to do . I keep looking in the mirror and saying silly things like "Those aren't wrinkles ! They are smile lines ! LOL sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't !! Good luck to you as you move forward in your new life !

I was 60. 251 at 5'8". I walked out of the hospital on the third day and never took pain meds again. I went back to work (office job) one week later.
Easy surgery, easy recovery so I don't think my recovery differed from a younger person. From day one, I kept moving, made sure I got enough liquid and protein everyday, and keep up with supplements.
Anyone, no matter their age, can have complications, but it isn't always that way. I know I was very fortunate.
Good luck to you. Your surgery will be over before you know it, and you will be on your way to a new life.

Hi there! Just saw your post and had to reply.
I had my RNY at 59, and sailed right through it. Never had that first complication, and really had no pain to speak of. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I lost 140 pounds and every symptom that I had! No more joint pain, edema of the legs and feet, congestive heart failure,,tachycardia, or diabetes. I am a hundred percent healthy except for some stress related problems and vitamin deficiency problems recently.
Remember to do everything the doc tells you,,and take your vitamins faithfully. Its all sooo worth it.
Welcome to your new life! So happy for you!
Blessings
Betsy
