My Missey,
Welcome.  I'm Trish, and I absolutely love this group of ladies.  I feel like this is sometimes more of my family than my real family.

I found the waiting period between starting the WLS process, and getting clearance to be really faith building.  I hope you do not have to wait for long.

Please share some about yourself.  We love getting to know one another.

Hugs,
Trish

Aloha Missey......So nice to have you join this wonderful little group. Your stats are so very like mine, except I had WLS (RNY) when I was 63!! I, too, weighed 325ish, and it only took me 1.5 years to lose 167 lbs. I have maintained the 155 to 165 weight for about five years now, and it indeed is life changing to the max!! (I am 5' 10" tall)

I had to wait about a year and a half for my surgery, but went to classes and prep studies for all that we needed to know to give this our best shot. I began a food diary where I put down what I ate every day, calories, protein, carbs, etc. I did that for about 3 years, and it really helped.

I wish you the best of luck, and please do come in here often. This is the place that got me through the pre-surgery, surgery, and post surgery. Congratulations on your decision to change your life for the better!!

Aloha nui loa,

Maui Karen

 Missey,

Welcome to a place where others have come before you and are willing to help you as you transform your life from what is now to a future that is only limited by your thoughts and cir****tances. .   I was 52 when I had my surgery, life has been marvelous since then!

People on this forum are very supportive.

Best wishes, Laureen

Well....alittle about me. I have lived in Chandler AZ close to Phoenix for about 15 years now. I came to AZ when I split with my husband of 21 years. I left knowing my life would be happier since there was alot of abuse, mental and physical. I have had many health issues due to my weight and am hoping this surgery will clear some of them up. Both knees have been replaced and a shoulder so far.I am blind in one eye and the other eye is 100/20 corrected so I can no longer drive. Having to have someone take me every where is hard to do. I can't walk  far without having to sit down.
Only family I have is a neice and nephew and their 4 boys & 1 girl. They are not really sure this is what I need to do. So support from home is limited. I started to attend the WLS group here in the area and so far have meet some great people. One couple has been nice enough to offer me a ride to the meetings ! I hope and pray once my family see's the change in me that they will come to my side and see that it really was the right thing to do. I know in my heart its right as I believe everything has fallen into place for a reason and that reason is for me to take control and get my life back ! I have never been a stronge person but I have a feeling that all that is about to change. When I went one day to put my tennis shoes on and could not do it....that was the final straw and called my PCP that day. Sorry if I kinda bounce around I am not great about writing about myself. If anyone has any questions please msg me. Thank You again for the warm welcome !

Hi Missy.  Welcome to the group.

I'm Amy.  I'm 60, 340 lbs, waiting for a surgery date for a DS, retired/disabled.  I'm not much of a writer, but I read almost everything here on ObesityHelp that I think can help me.  Some might call me a lurker, but I prefer to think of myself as just a little shy.
