ITs A wonderful WET Wednesday in my part of the world!ANd

And I hope the cool and especially the wet last a long time!     It has rained some through the night   not sure how much but we need it so bad  just like most of the nation.   As a child we had a chant  "rain rain go away we don't want no rain today"   I wonder if I make up another chant "rain rain come some more come pour a whole lot more"  If it would work?
I  have been missing mom lately as July was her birthday  plus a busy month for her and I as I helped get ready for and get to and home her church camp that meant so much to her and my stepdad.   It don't hurt nearly so bad now   just missing her and nostalgic memories Ill always enjoy.
I am still looking for that job to take me to retirement.  that will enable me to retire as I want.  I have finally decided to give up the specialty foster care. I have seen two young families here in town struggle to  gain the knowledge  they need to help these special little ones so I am going to just serve as a respite caretaker for them.   Mary., my angel  retired on me in April  so I think it is time.
I Think we are We are going camping this weekend.   Steve really wants to go so We compromised on a site that has electric that was if its really hot  I can hibernate inside in air conditioning in the heat and enjoy the camping in the evening and  early morning.
Prayers from my house to yours for all  who want them!     Have a great day everyone.

Good mornin' ya'll.
Jo, we used to say "Rain, rain go away, come again another day".
Nobody's saying 'go away' chants anywhere in the country I bet. We should all start using your new one. Maybe that will make a difference.
I finally began a new afghan. Camo, black, and a darkish green. My son wants something 7 feet long to cover him from head to toe. He isn't 7 feet tall. But he wants to tuck it around his neck and tuck it under his feet. So I will be working on this one awhile.
My Sis just called and she still doesn't have an appointment with the cardiac surgeon guy. Not even a phone call from them!! It's a 'hurry up and wait' situation.
Gonna be too hot to even go outside today. Glad we don't need anything.
Well before I can relax with my crochet I have to unload the dishwasher, fold and put away clothes, put together a shelving unit and transfer some of our less popular DVDs to it.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!!

Good morning Jo, and all my OFF sistas!

Jo, I'm with you on the camping!  I'm a girl who needs her creature comforts--namely a working bathroom and at least a fan!  I hope you will find the job you want/need.  I admire you for your work with foster children.  I never felt I could do that.  I get too attached too easily.  My heart would break all the time.

We had a good day here yesterday.  About damn time.  We were due one.  Butch and I took Benny out on the lake for awhile.  We even caught a fish!  We are having a hard time learning how to fish on this lake.  It's very different from the lake we fished on in East Texas.  Today we are going to try a different approach.  We're going to bait a hole and then try fishing over it tomorrow.

We took Chris and Benny out to dinner last night for her birthday.  She decided she wanted Mexican.  Benny was so funny.  All he wanted to do was dip his chip in the green sauce, lick it off, and then dip it again.  Eventually he was just sticking his little fork in the green sauce and eating it directly that way.  Then it was his little hand!  He LOVED the green sauce.  LOL!

He also loved the slice of cheesecake we got Chris for her birthday cake.  I've never seen a child more crazy about cake!  Any kind of cake!  I'm not sure who got more of that slice--Chris or Benny! (And I didn't eat any of it!  Go me!)

Today I have to take my little Patty Kate into the vet for her annual checkup and more anti-itch pills.  She had a bad week last week in Nac.  The vet said she is highly allergic to dust mites, but I think it must be the particular dust mites in my house in Nac.  Wow.  She scratched herself raw.  I had to double up on her anti-itch pills and she still scratched and bit and clawed at herself until she bled.  She doesn't really do that here at Hilltop.  I don't understand it.

I am getting excited about our weekend get-away to Fredericksburg.  Yesterday I called and got us seats at the Rockbox Theatre for the rock n roll revue show on Saturday night.  Gee, a real date night with my sweetie!  I may faint with excitement.  LOL.

Well, it's time to go out and feed my deer.  I see them gathering in the back yard.  They want their breakfast!  Then I think I'll make pancakes and sausage for my guys for their breakfast.  Benny has gymnastics this morning and he needs a good breakfast today.

Love you all!

Good Morning Ladies!

Looking forward to thunder storms coming later today to take the edge off of the heat and to water my garden, as well as my poor burned out lawn. . .  anyway, it's supposed to hit 99 today and that's just the temps, can't imagine how it will feel with the humidity the way it is, feel sorry for all those people who work outdoors in these temps. . .  grateful for air conditioning!

Jo, I understand the missing your Mom, it's been over 10 years and I still miss mine. . .  hope you find what your looking for in the "take me to retirement" job search.  Hope you enjoy your camping, I have not gone in about 4 years, love it and really used to go a lot and in a tent and all that, but I have lots of friends that say a hotel is the only way they will travel ;)

Vickie, glad to read that you and yours had a good day yesterday, which from what I've been following, has been long overdue. . . My Roxie is also allergic to dust mites, I had her tested and got allergy medicine (shots) I was giving her, until she got to a point where she would not allow me to give them to her any longer, I told the vet yesterday, that now she fights me even putting her flea medicine on her, where in the past she never did, mainly because it's in the same area where I was giving her the shots, and so I'm looking for an alternative, tomorrow I have the vet coming to check out her hind leg to make sure the pebble size hard thing is nothing serious, Rotts are prone towards cancer and I cannot afford to take any chances, though I am really keeping a positive attitude about it.  Hope today winds up being another good day for you and yours. . .

It is hotter then Hades here and I am really looking forward to relief from it, making sure I drink my fluids, because in this weather, especially, we need to be mindful of that.  Going to a noontime AA meeting and after work I have my WLS support group, which is about a 50 mile drive from work, but so worth it. . .

That's it from me and I wish all of you the best of all days and for those with life challenges, I wish you the peace and strength to get through!

Good Morning Jo and all to follow.
I started a Wednesday thread, but fell asleep in the middle of typing it.  Good thing I checked the board to see if someone posted, coz Jo got one in while I snoozed.  Good for you Jo.

Jo, it's always good to have you post and hear what's up in your little slice of the world.  I'm gonna be another hot one today.  Our extensive heat warning is on till Thursday morning.

Today I am tidying and packing for my trip on Friday morning.  That's when my sister, sis-in-law and I fly to St. Louis to see my daughter-in-law in 'The Sound of Music.'  She left the National Tour of Les Miserables in June to take the role of Maria.  She grew up right outside of St. Louis, in a little town in Illinois.  I was out there once before, for the wedding when she married my older son.

I have one load of laundry to take care of, and the tidying I need to do so my friend who is dog sitting can come in and take care of him without killing herself tripping over my stuff.  I have some, not much, clutter.

Must scoot.  I hope everyone has a blessed day.  Be sure to hydrate.

Hugs,
Trish

Good morning Jo and  everyone......

Jo...I think it is awesome that you will be doing respite care for those families. You are such a kind and compassionate person. They are blessed to have you! I also miss my mom and it has been many years. It gets easier but the sad feeling never goes away. Have fun camping!!

I am putting one foot in front of the other today. Because of so much pain and having an asthma attack yesterday I never made it to my eye appointment. I spent most of the day in bed. It doesn't look like today will be any better. One day at a time this week!

Wishing you all a really beautiful day! Prayers for those in need.....special ones for some.

Love and hugs to all.......connie d

Afternoon OFF family...No its NOT a good day for me at all here....sighs..........started off woman that had the dog that bit the other woman came over and screamed at me for a full 10 minutes!!!  Called me everything but a white woman too!!! Said she is NOT getting rid of her dog like she was told to do from MY boss. Said she is talking to her lawyer and police...go for it! Its a violation of pet policy and lease to have a vicious dog on this property and this dog has now bitten a person!!! I could go on and on but won't bore you all...she still hasn't contacted the poor woman that her dog bit!!!

Hot as hell here also...expecting rain/storms some severe they said...believe that when I see it happen!!!

Lunch is over so back to the office and see what else happens....

Thoughts and Prayers for all that need them!

HUGS

Hi Jo and my OFF family:

It's my weekend and I am being lazy. I don't think I'll get out of my jammies today. I am still drinking my pot of coffee. It's 97 degrees, feels like 105. So I'll stay inside ... tomorrow I'll do laundry.

I've decided I'll have my left knee replaced before I move ... my deductible is paid, plus it'll be better in the fall. Maybe I'll do it in October, during the playoffs.

I asked my doc about my tests; he said the only thing he'd recommend is to up my Vitamin D. I'm already taking 2000.

Jo, I'm with you on camping ... my idea of camping is a hotel with showers and a/c and TV.

Have a good day everyone ... Connie, I understand ... the humidity is so high here I ache a lot, too. I feel like I'm back in Louisiana.

Well, have a good day everyone.

Good evening Jo and OFF family, just bringing up the rear again...along with posting some stuff from my eating coach. Some good stuff to reflect on tooopooo!!! LOL

Okay, I wanted more rain, it's just plain ugly outside but I've been watering my plant/flowers and my veggie garden.

I was all ready and dressed early for work and noticed my doggies were a scratching! Fleas! Ugh!! Bath time and another shower for me along with mopping down my slate floor to get any buggers that might be hanging around along with spraying the dogs and furniture. Then decided to do more laundry...why stop when your running around like a mad woman!??? LOL

Okay, I had 5 wonderful days off up in Mackinac and the weather was beautiful, walked to the falls at Tahquamenan, then went up to the Sioux and watched the ships go through the Locks. I ate well, refrained from fudge and sal****er taffy.

So today we had a potluck and I behaved myself since I brought baked beans and beef mixture in a crockpot. With this heat, my hunger isn't there and I'm not complaining one bit!

Hugs and prayers for all in need. Newbies welcome to OFF! Keep chatting away. Debbie
