Your granddaughter is amazing and I totally understand your grumpiness...my daughter graduated 13th in her class but they forgot to give her the extras that go with being in the top segment of the senior class because she was in a medical independent study due to a constant migraine headache. I felt so sorry for her at the graduation. But I was more than pissed about the oversight. I also felt guilty because I trusted that they would remember their promises.
Breakfast/ protein drink
Lunch - tomato with cottage cheese
Dinner- beans with weinies
Snack- watermelon
Wow Jeannie!
I'd be proud as a pea**** about your granddaughter & pissed as **** about the minimal fanfare.
What asses! Hope she can at least get some special treatment from family...positive reinforcement from those who know & love her best!
You can choose to tell her this old lady you know thinks she is pretty darn awesome!
Sorry the knee continues to be a bother.

Kathy
Here's to proud grumpy grandma's. You are so right. About everything.

Okay, so today is Saturday and I am sitting with my damn leg propped up on pillows with ice packs around my knee with orders to keep it up...I am having surgery in a little over a month and I am tethered to a damn stool. The grands are here and they are waiting on me hand and foot and the granddaughter did make me a scrambled egg but I am just not use to not doing things. Crap.
I will finish the modify articles and begin posting them...****I cannot do anything else.
Now that I have sufficiently felt sorry for myself, here's what's good: my granddaughter, who is only in third grade but is a member of the junior high debate team, participated in her first debate on Thursday night. We went down to watch and the teams compete in groups and individually. She debated with an 8th grader from another school with my granddaughter taking the position that girl's restrooms should be just for naturally born girls. I swear, two weeks ago, she and I had this huge discussion with my sister and my sister's granddaughter so my granddaughter was well prepared. But, it was one of the potential topics so she had done research on the pros and cons on several topics, this one included. Let me just say that girl is going to grow up to be a supreme court judge...she was so logical in presenting her information and when she countered her opponent....she won second place in the individual and her team won first place. None of her other team members placed in the individual. Friday was homecoming for the football team and they had a huge assembly for the homecoming royalty and we went down because the superintendent said they were going to announce her and her team's win at the beginning of homecoming...considering she is in third grade, you would think they would have been so proud of her but the captain of the team went on stage to represent the entire team and as an after thought the superintendent drew attention to my granddaughter as having placed second in individual debates and added, by the way, she is in the third grade competing with the junior high team...that was it and then it was on to the girls in low cut dresses....really? Maybe all my pain and the medication is making me grumpy but I would think a debate team should be given more than an after thought announcement.
B: scrambled egg with 1/2 piece of toast
L: tomato and cottage cheese (1/2 medium tomato and 1/2 cup of cottage cheese)
D: Beans, okra, and potatoes
Snack: sugar free jelly
With all this inactivity, I can feel my fat cells sucking up every carb, every fat, every thing that goes into my mouth....damnit
Jeannie,
Thats good you have a surgery date. I will keep you in my thoughts.
Jeannie,
I'd say I'm glad I'm not alone with the eating thing, but it's not something we want to bond over, lol, right?
Glad you got the surgery scheduled. You will do fine!

Kathy
Yvonne,
I wi**** was just one or two snacks, but it is meals...poor portion control & poor snack choices.
Will see how today goes...
Is this the same friend you talk about? Funny how the crap continues even as we become aging seniors! I love my neighbor, but she wears me out. I think she has become a hypercondriac since she had breast cancer. She calls me over for some of the dumbest things like a ref mark on her thigh. She wanted to know if I thought it was a blood clot! And she is a nurse!
But I feel bad for both her & her husband who is terminally ill. Gotta take the bad with the good..

Kathy
I totally agree with your doctor...I just can't see you suffering like this. Thank goodness we have pain meds, BUT they are not intended for lifetime use. Tell him to lop off some sags and bags while you are asleep! I'd sure love to get rid of some of that crap, but one of those surgeries would lead to five more....
Oh Jeannie:
I am excited for you but dread my own when the time comes. I see my surgeon in six months and need to lose another 30 pounds before he will do it...also, the fact that I had cellulitis in both legs (toes to groin) makes him hesitate...me too, to be honest. I greatly admire your courage. Yes, I agree this pain is truly nasty but I am also a weenie when it comes to surgery.
I send you much loving and positive energy & prayer for a successful surgery. *hugs*
Kathy,
I have been eating a lot of crappy food because I am just not cooking. We are eating the canned soups and beans that I have put up but I'm also eating crap. Damn. We've also had some cooler weather and I can say, knock on wood, summer has finally left us.
I'm getting the knee done...one more iron infusion and then a couple of week wait and it will be done. My poor knee is so messed up....hopefully I will do as well as my brother.
