Topic: Surgery Date is Set

Okay, Nov. 4 is my penciled in surgery date.  I see the blood doctor next week and go back for one more infusion and then I am ready. I have to tell you guys...I'm not really keen on this but the pain is now constant and nothing helps. The knee guy said, I knew you would come to your senses. No one should suffer like this.  yep...that's what he said.

Hi Kathy,

I understand the night time eating. Ill have my snack and next i know im eating popcorn lately. At least its airpopped.

My friend kind of got mad today because she owed me money for gas taking her places. She didnt say it but i could tell by her expression.

Have a good weekend

Hello Everyone!

Almost dinnertime here on the East Coast & no one had posted! I know weekends can be slow on here...

I have done alot of emotional eating this week & am disgusted with myself...which seems to fuel the eating. Every morning I vow to get back on track & plan my meals, but go off in the evenings. It is very frustrating!

The weird thing is I am not gaining & have lost a few pounds. I would think with my one yr surgery coming up in 2 weeks the easy ride would be over. Not that I'm complaining, but I WANT to eat healthy...

It has been chilly & rainy here all wk. We hope to visit Philadelphia on Sunday when it clears out.

Jeannie & Nancy...I'd be procrastinating about such major surgery, too, but best to get it over with. Constant pain is no joke!

Julia I love a grilled hot dog with home fried potatoes w loads of onion & green peppers!

Yvonne, hoping that lamp helps out.

Everyone enjoy their weekend!

Kathy

I have heard great things about those lights and how it helps people. Here in Canada, we do not get as much sun and many Canadians have to supplement with vitamin D to make up for lack of sun exposure...so some use the lights to combat SADD.

We are going  to visit my Mom's family in Quebec in a few weeks, to visit family(I come from a HUGE family) and to see the fall colours along the Ottawa River (my roots) and in the Laurentian Mountains. and I plan to join the local senior's Kiwana's Centre for water therapy when we get back.  With two knee replacements in my future, this will help strengthen my legs. Now the trick is to get me THERE. Once I start, I am fine but I tend to procrastinate badly. My bad.

*waves hello from across the continent *

We are starting to get coloured leaves here near Niagara Falls in Canada...the temps have suddenly dropped and it's been a rainy cool week...time for jackets now ...somehow I seem to have missed summer...probably because ot was so hot and humid that I stayed inside as muchas possible. LOLOL...silly me.

Oh dear. I am so sorry..you sure do not need more challenges. I was told some years back that I also had a cataract growing but he said that if it did not start growing quickly within six months, that, chances are, it likely will be one of those very slow growing cataracts that I may never need treated. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. AND I can totally empathize with you and your knee. both of mine have been diagnosed as severely arthritic with bone spurs. I see the surgeon again in six months for discussion on two knee replacements (and I'd better be down another 30 pounds by then too)

Sending loving healing energy!

Darn Jeannie...you retired and got everything thrown at you. I hope the knee surgery will be done with little fanfare and you feel much better soon!

I don't have much to report. I haven't been sleeping too well, so I feel drained.

Breakfast- protein drink

Lunch- tuna with lettuce and a couple of crackers

Dinner- beans with wieners....haha...love this but not too good for me

Snacks- cranberries with peanut butter on celery

I've been missing in action in part because of my damn knee and because my glasses broke.  I cannot see a thing without them so I had to wait for a new pair.  Apparently, I have a slight cataract forming on my left eye...who knew.

I go today to set up my knee replacement date...the heart guy and the blood guy agree that the iron  infusion should be given two days prior to surgery so we are now setting the date....I'll know when the knee will be replaced at 2 today.  I am so nervous because I really didn't want to get the knee replacement but there's nothing left they can do to make my knee function without me using a walker and being in severe pain...I am tired of taking so many pain pills.

B: I ate crackers and butter. I know, bad choice but I cannot stand to cook.

L: I guess I'll get a tomato sandwich

D: We will eat at a Chinese place so it'll be shrimp

Snacks: I've been eating celery for snacks....I really need to improve my refrigerator contents....
