Swelling 7 days post TT

 Hi all, today I am 7 days out from my abdominoplasty with vertical extension (extension goes all the way up between my breasts). Today I have the most swelling I've had. My upper abdomen is so swollenand sore. Is it normal for the swelling to be increasing at a week out? I'll be calling my PS later, just thought I'd check and see what y'all experienced.

 That is exactly what happened to me at exactly one week out..... I felt pregnant!  Drink lots of liquids and wear your binder (or whatever it was your doc gave u)

This is very common!  

Drink about 2L of water a day and really really watch your sodium intake.  I think this happens because at about a week people start eating more normally since they are feeling better and they may be consuming more sodium.  Just a thought.

 I ate two bowls of watermelon and papaya everyday for the first two weeks post op.  Papaya is great for healing and watermelon for the diuretic properties.  I also watched my sodium very carefully.  

Hydrate well and trust in the process.

Swelling.. might be your companion for a little bit.. I added massage to help with the swelling and recovery. I have this little pouch area around the belly button.. I pray its residual swelling versus fat that the Ps left there..

I'm right there with you on the swelling - I had a lil bit of swelling at a week but now it's ridONculous!  I'm miserable but I keep telling myself this is to be expected although I haven't seen anyone swelling like this yet.

 I just had my husband take some pictures (11 days post-op). The swelling is nuts! I wish I had taken some pictures 1-2 days post op just so I would have a record. I see my PS tomorrow, so hopefully hell tell me it's all normal. I did see a little section of incision (maybe an inch long) that looks totally healed, which made me really happy.
