I did decide to go with Dr. Zachary. Having it done in a hospital - and having to stay overnight there - gives me peace of mind.
I have my belt lipectomy on Aug 10, so it's coming up fast! I've tentatively scheduled my breast lift and arm lift for Nov 30 (although she said it's tentative since they normally don't schedule out that far, and she's not sure what his vacation plans are - but I at least wanted it on the radar - and on the calendar - even if they end up having to adjust the date by a week or two!!)
I'm having it all done at Weiss. I think she said he does his self-pays over there - I'm guessing it's cheaper there or something. I wouldn't be surprised since U of C is a world-class research hospital, whereas Weiss is a small, older, community hospital....
Dr. Zachary is who did my breast reduction/lift and my belt lipectomy. He works out of two hospitals. My insurance covered all of mine so I had it at U of C but my bat wings won't be covered so he'll do that at Weiss. I was kept overnight for the breast lift and two nights for the lipectomy. He is a really good doctor and his staff is amazing.
Keep us updated!
BTW, I'm six weeks post op from the belt lipectomy.

I just had a LBL and I am one of those people who was really down. I am six years out from WLS and after only ONE relationship, I threw in the towel. I couldn't stand to look at myself.
I don't know if I'm any better just yet because I need to have a revision but my pannus is gone and everyone says I look considerably smaller. Once I physically feel better, I hope to feel better emotionally.

I am just over six weeks post op from a belt lipectomy. The surgery itself was BRUTAL and having my drains back up and getting a really bad infection (and hospitalized again) was bad too but now I'm back to work and I can't wear normal pants because my mons area is HUGE, swollen and crooked (I look like I had a gender reassignment, which is great for someone who wants that but it's not the look I was going for.
Worse, all of the skin on my hips and back feels like wood! I keep thinking that my underpants and skirt is falling down.
Is there any physical therapy or anything I can do for this? I've talked to my PS and he keeps telling me to massage it. ...and that mons area.... uhg. I'm just SO uncomfortable. I can walk but not fast and at work, the stairway is wide so I tend to trot down and up and it hurts so I'm taking the stairs.
Any suggestions? I just want this numbness to GO AWAY and this "package" to look female again!
Thanks!

I'm so sorry this has happened to you but at least I know I'M NOT ALONE! OMG!!! I'm six weeks post-op and I look like I had gender reassignment and the whole thing is sideways! My surgeon said that most of it swelling (which makes sense) and that as soon as the internal sutures dissolve, it will lay straight again. He told me to massage it... Uhg.
This is one instance that I'm glad I don't have a significant other. I'd be mortified. .... and it hurts!
I have one other issue too and he is going to have to do a revision so he said that he will fix this if it's not better when I have the revision (some time before the end of the year).

Wow! I'm glad it went so well for you! I'm six weeks out now and I still can't walk very far. My whole body feels like it's made out of wood. I have no feeling from the knee-up on one leg but it is getting better so I suspect it will just take time.
Mine was a HORRIBLE experience and I'm just glad it's over!

You were 100% correct. OMG.... I also had my surgical drains back up and I got horribly infected, within hours of going septic. This has been an adventure!

You will do great! I have to echo what Laura said - set an alarm those first few nights for every four hours and have your pain meds on a step stool or small table next to your bed/recliner right where your hand is, next to a water and a small snack so you can wake up, easily pick up the food and drink, and take your pill. My "omg I will die moment" (I only had one!) was the first night at home (night 2) when my pain pills wore off and I woke up thinking "I cannot breathe due to abdominal pain oh my god I will die". Clearly, I didn't die, and as long as I kept up the pills for those first days, I was absolutely great. You may have moments of regret but the end result is worth it! Good luck!
If not washed and dried daily, fungal growth develops in the skin folds it has a nasty odorMy doctor prescribed Nitrostatin powder for the red sore that developed under my pannus. It comes in a small shaker bottle, only a tiny amount applied right after washing and thoroughly drying the area cleared the sore up immediately. After sore is cleared up, keep area dry by bathing daily, drying thoroughly, then place clean dry washcloths, toilet paper or paper toweling between the skin folds. Check throughout the day to make sure it is in place and dry. Even if you are in air conditioning indoors all day, your body is sweating. Without putting a layer of cloth or paper between your skin folds, the infections will come right back.
I only had a lift, but my breasts did not hurt at all after the first week. They were the easy part for me.
