My plastic surgeon called it something like the remodeled house in the neighborhood effect (that?s not it, but close enough). He said that a neighborhood of houses looks fine until one house remodels and adds on. Then the houses next door start to look rundown when they didn?t before and those people want to work on their houses too. So you fix your stomach and then your flanks don't looks as good in comparison. Or your boobs, arms, etc. I can see how easy it would be to get carried away with wanting to fix tiny imperfections!
Seems like sound advice, Thank You! I know this is a marathon, and not a race. But boy am I looking forward to that finish line, lol. I already feel so much better, and my whole attitude has improved.

I have an appointment with Dr. Michaels at the end of May. I look forward to hearing what he has to say.

Hi Janet - that is so exciting! I did a LBL and breast lift at one time, and then decided to go do my arms once the rest of my body looked good ha ha. I didn't have any pain along my incisions from my LBL or my breasts - it was the muscle tightening in my abdomen that was absurdly painful! I knew I would forget tons of stuff so I made a document and you can find it here.
You may know that a few of us on here (me, Erin, Cynthia) are super fans of Dr. Joseph Michaels in North Bethesda. His speciality is plastic surgery and body contouring after massive weight loss. He's beyond incredible. Perhaps look into a consult with him. I am still ecstatic with my results years later :) Here are my before and after from my plastics posts.

Congrats on your loss so far - that's great!
My opinion and the advice I was given was it's important to be at a stable weight for min 3 months but I'd say 6 months. Getting as close to goal is important but it's hard to determine if the goal is reasonable or attainable so I prefer just focusing on stability. Also, make sure you are still following your plan when you stabilize to ensure maximum loss.
For me personally I wanted to get to goal first but despite my best efforts I couldn't get there but was about 15lbs away from it. I had LBL 3.5 weeks ago with 9lbs removed and due to following high protein diet post op I'm now at goal and have a new goal lol. I'm almost 2 years post op RNY. I went for my first consult just after my 1 year follow up.
Good luck!

OK- First time post, but am really encouraged reading all of these. I'm only 5 months post bypass, and am down a total of about 100 lbs. At what weight should I seek out a consult? Some have said 15-25 lbs from my goal weight, and others have said not until my goal weight is reached. Looking to see what/when others did, so weigh in(pun intended) with advice!?

You are spot on. I just need to learn to love myself, and accept myself for how i look...good and bad. Im never going to be a model, or have the "perfect body". Even models nitpick themselves. I blame society for body shaming people.
On a good note...this morning i was feeling pretty good, decided to take a shower, and i was like "hmm, maybe ill try my jeans on, and see how swollen I still am"....so i grabbed a size 8 jeans (i normally wear a 6, but sometimes fluctuate to an 8)...and guess what??!! THEY FIT!!!!!! YES!!!!! Tears of joy! yes, my thighs are a bit swollen still, however, i was able to pull jeans on with no problem or having to force them up. WOot WOot!!!! Small accomplishments. :)
Again, thank you for the reminder to love myself, even if im not perfect, im a perfect me :)
Excuse the expression, but I found plastic surgery to be just as big of a mind **** as having WLS. Your expectations, no matter how prepared you are, can be so skewed. Before PS I felt really good about myself and had this constant thought that the extra skin wasn't a big deal because it would be removed. After PS I've struggled not to nitpick at the things I still see as 'not perfect' about myself. And it's key to note that I had an LBL and BL and my stomach, butt, and boobs are NOT perfect.
It really helped me to look at mostly naked pictures of myself from 1+ year ago when I had WLS. You really need the reminder of how far you've come. Also, I try to tell myself all the time that I'm normal now. Normal women are not perfect, they have flaws and things they don't like and I should not complain because I'm literally finding tiny things to complain about.
Again, it's a weird mind game and hard to understand until you do it.

funny you should ask.....mentally, i was feeling a bit better, altho i still havent gone to the store for bigger pants for work...but i woke up this morning, and as i was walking, my hand hit my hip and i was like "hmm, my hand NEVER used to hit my hip before when i walked"...so i feel my thigh/hip area, and my hips are even bigger now. boyfriend asks me " are u sure u didnt ask for the kardashian shelf ass and hips surgery when i wasnt in the room with u and the dr?" hahah. idiot. its like every day, something is even more swollen than the day before. I feel like the girl in the willy wonka movie who turned into a giant blueberry...minus the blue color. i started checking online on what i can do to lose the swelling quicked. thought of water pills perhaps, but found too many negative things about that, so i then found a drink that can supposedly help with reducing swelling after surgery. So i had boyfriend go out and buy a juicer. The drink concoction is 1 cantaloupe, 2 cucumbers, and 2 celery stalks. Havent tried it yet, but will sometime today. Just hope it works. Ive been thinking maybe the swelling is cuz i was being too active (doing housework, taking care of the animals, etc)...so ive been limiting my movements to bare minimum, and just laying down with feet somewhat prepped up and jus****ching tv all day long. (which, by the way is super boring).
Last night was rough. Kept waking up to really bad tight feeling on my right lower front side, near or at incision area. Felt like the skin was pullling. So i had to sleep on my back (which ive been forced to do for the last 2 weeks or so) with my knees bent. Im normally a side sleeper.
Im just hoping, in the end, this is all worth it. Right, now, Im questioning my decision to get this done in the first place. As with the gastric bypass surgery, i knew it was alearning curve, and after a month i was glad i had that surgery done, so, in a few more weeks, im hoping to be able to say the same thing.
Where my belly button is, there is like 2 little "puffs" of skin, hard to explain what it looks like, but its not flat like the rest of my stomach. Its obviously from the way PS made the belly button, and im just wondering if its going to stay like that, or if its just swollen. Hoping for the latter.
That's amazing to hear! I'm actually really looking into gastric sleeve but I'm really curious on how u were able to have TT done with UHC??
