I was told that initially swelling decreases fairly quickly, so you'll see something like 80% of it gone in the first 4-6 weeks. But that last 20% takes FOREVER.

Oh, it was drastic. At the time I was so happy with how I looked at 2-3 weeks that I couldn't comprehend.

This is me at 2 weeks (left) and 4-5 weeks (right)

...and this is me at 6 months

Thanks Erin! 6 months?!?!? Geez! Okay, I guess I should have a seat and get comfortable. Do you feel the difference in appearance immediately (2-3 weeks post-op) vs. 6 months was minimal or drastic? I'm wondering how much of what I see is the "new me", and how much is swelling.

No fat transfer! Evidently I had enough tissue, it was just all spread out amongst all that skin. Once he got it all in one spot and wrapped it up in nice tight skin - POW! I got the boobies of a 20-something!

I had some degree of swelling for over 6 months. The worst of it was before the 12-week mark.

Wow, that is wonderful! I'd love to feel that way about the girls again! Did he do a fat transfer, or did you have sufficient breast tissue for reshaping?

Hi all! I know everyone is different, but I'm curious as to how after surgery did it take for your swelling to go down? I'm 4 weeks post-op (ETT, BL, AL) and still have quite a bit of swelling. Mostly I'm just sick of the compression garments. I appreciate any information you can provide. I need to see some light at the end of the tunnel!

Hi! I'm 4 weeks post op (Dr. Michaels) for a ETT, BL (w/o implants), and AL. I'd love to go back for my butt and thighs, but can't stomach the thought of paying more money.

My surgeon recommended a LBL and AL, with BL in a 2nd surgery, but I wanted to make sure I got my worst areas taken care of in one surgery in case pain or funds prevented me from additional surgeries.

I must say that my breasts are phenomenal! I can't believe he got those loose floppy things sitting so high and firm without implants!

Check with your surgeon on when a mammo is OK...usually I like to wait 4 to 6 months. There can be areas of scar or fat that warrant further workup after any kind of breast surgery, and its never a bad idea to get your PS involved as they may well know what or where that area is (usually at the bottom of the breast.)

Plans vary so check the language. In general, you must have several months of skin breakdown not responding to treatment to get the excess skin removed.

I've got a page on my website that I think has the BCBS language:
