Hammie Sammies were one of my favorite things before starting this journey. My biggest dilemma was the coleslaw. My families version of hammie sammies has to have the coleslaw to meet the flavor profile.

The old recipe:
Hoagie bun
Quality sliced ham
2 slices of  cheese, (swiss, havarti, muenster are all good choices)
2 slices of tomato
Topped with coleslaw

The new recipe:
3 oz Quality Ham (at least 97% fat free)
1 oz Low fat cheese slices (same choices as above if you can find a reduced fat cheese in those flavors)
tomato slices
coleslaw made with 2 teaspoons of lemon juice and 1 T fat free miracle whip per 1 cup of slaw
Portabello or ****ake mushroom caps can serve as the bread

Deconstructed version:
3 oz Ham (diced)
1 oz Cheese (diced)
1 cup diced tomato
1 cup prepared slaw (prepared as above)

heat the ham and cheese
add the tomato
top with the slaw
This give you the same flavor profile sans bread
